You are both right, because as always - the truth lies in the middle. Police do excellent work solving crimes. Often with the help of tips from citizens. Sometimes the tips just come to them and sometimes they have to go out and find them. But what happens often is that the police will know who did it and how/when/where/and why they did it, but will not have enough evidence to prove it in court. I think that is why they have not charged her with murder yet. They are just waiting to get more info. They can go back and up the charge at any time before the trial, so what's the rush. They have some leverage to get her to confess and rat out everybody else. They are probably telling her that she will get the electric chair if she doesn't come clean, and then telling her that the judge may go easy on her if the cooperates.

This is truly a sad story.  I was praying he went away and would contact his mother and the authorities to say he just needed to escape from those snakes around him.  it was really fishy for him to sell his house to his finacial planner for $ 200,000 less than he purchased it.  A legitimate financial planner could not purchase the property from him if she's also entrusted with managing his accounts.

I think the police know just what they're doing. Charge her with a lesser crime, get her to telll them everyone who was involved then up the charges.  It's great detective work along with people with morals, values and ethics providing tips.  Unfortunated as someone stated in an earlier post, Policeman can bring charges and if their not 99.9 % correct some slippery lawyer can get a client off on a technicallity!

As far as the lottery letting people remain anonyomous, they will do everything in their power to make sure the win in publicized.  That increases their lottery sales.  They don't care what happens to you and your family.  A change happens when people unite and groups contact their legislature, senators and congressman about the need to have freedom to choose publicity or privacy.

There are more than enough stories similar to this one which reinforces my choice to remain anonymous if I ever win a large jackpot or any jackpot.

I don't know why people read stories and still think this can't happen to them if they won a large jackpot.

I was wondering the same thing.  Why use the headline term "Friend"?  I thought it was inappropriate. If she was a "friend", how come he didn't know her BEFORE he won the money?  Did he pick up her garbage? How often did they hangout together before he won? She was a greedy, lying, thieving,possibly murdering con artist...plain and simple. 

What a wicked woman for her to kill someone so kind and sweet all because of money shows how greedy and the lack of respect she has for a human life, hope she gets charged with 1st degree murder as well. My thoughts are with Shakespeare mum and family, RIP you kind man, you will never be forgotten by your peers and family
