Lottery ticket thief tries to claim prize at same store

Mar. 8, 2010, 8:22 a.m.

Florida Lottery Florida Lottery: Lottery ticket thief tries to claim prize at same store Rating:

Police say a 22-year-old Winter Haven man walked into a Circle K last week and stole $70 worth of Florida Scratch-Off tickets then returned to the same store to cash a winning $50 ticket.

Now, Alen Nguyen is charged with one count of retail theft.

According to the Sheriff's Office, while the clerk was away from the counter, Nguyen stole about $70 worth of scratch-off lottery tickets from the store at 5600 Cypress Gardens Blvd. The clerk called authorities when she noticed a discrepancy between the cash in the drawer and the scratch-off tickets. The surveillance video showed the suspect leaning over the counter and taking the tickets.

Authorities say Nguyen returned to the store March 1 with one of the winning tickets, hoping to claim the $50. The clerk recognized him as the suspect in the surveillance video and asked for his driver license. She wrote down his name and information and called detectives, leading to Nguyen's arrest.

He was released from Polk County Jail on Friday on $250 bail.

I can't believe he returned to the same store to cash in the tickets that he stole earlier...maybe I can believe it. What an idiot. LOL

if you stealed a car, would you try to use its warranty?

tell me if you stealed a person cell phone

would you call their tech support line for help on it

if you stealed someone say alienware labtop,

would you try and have it repaired by the company how made it Just for them?

tell me, if you robbed  a persons  checkbook

would you try to cash the checks you stolen off of them when the bank knows about it

then again  this does not beat the story  of a guy who stolen a Living lubster out of the super markets fish tank,

only to hide it in hes pants and it clap down on hes you known what softpart

best ending of a crime Ever, justice was served that day,

if only this theft had the same ending,

this guy deserves to  be on the worlds dumbest criminals they put on tv mocking the stupid  criminals

, fun to watch, unreal to our brains logic

god i hope they got this on the stores video cams, with voices, this will be perfect to watch on tv

Hey Joshua,

Could you give advance warning on those lobster stories?

I think I'm going to have nightmares. I'm still squirming around in my chair here with the heebie jeebies.
