Lottery winner forgets wife's birthday

UK National LotteryUK National Lottery: Lottery winner forgets wife's birthday

After Robert McIntosh win £4.4 million (US$6.75 million) in the Lottery, his wife expected a lavish birthday present — but had to settle for a card.

Robert revealed yesterday that Susan's 47th birthday a week after their jackpot success had completely slipped his mind.

He said he failed to remember it because he was so excited about their huge Lotto win.

Speaking yesterday, Robert, 46, admitted, "With everything happening, I forgot to buy her anything. I had a card but not a present." Housewife Susan said, "With all the craziness going on, I don't blame him for forgetting.

"The Lottery win is the best birthday present I've had in 47 years but I'm hoping I'll get a special gift now. The budget should have gone up a fair bit."

The couple, who have three daughters, scooped the windfall with a lucky dip ticket in the April 17 draw. But they didn't check the numbers for 24 hours.

Even then, Robert only thought they'd won £10. After looking again he realised they had all six numbers — 3, 10, 29, 31, 36 and 44 — but asked Susan to check too.

He said, "She started screaming and the kids thought there was something wrong and came running downstairs. Then they started screaming."

The couple, from Alford in Aberdeenshire, plan to buy a bigger home and to fund their hobby of showing dogs.

Robert, a production manager at an engineering firm, said, "We have struggled bringing up three girls.

"We were not remotely well-off."

Well, I noticed that Susan's name is on the "publicity" check.  I bet that everyone here did too!  The check is from England, so the £4.4 million is the cash valued LUMP-SUM tax-free amount.  This means that £2.2 million (I presume that 50% to each was written on their claim form) will purchase Susan ANY sized birthday "special gift," even if she has to purchase it from her own accounts, using her own lottery win monies.

Although, I think that Robert will get his wife, Susan, that birthday special gift from his own funds -- and she's going to be thrilled with it!  I recommend a romantic luxury ship cruise to Alaska or the Southern Caribbean islands.

Having millions of dollars in my financial accounts means more, consistent fun for me.Lovies

Yeah, she can buy whatever she wants, but he needs to buy it and make it up to her - in style!!!!

Really, I completely understand how he could forget. And I would totally forgive my hubby if it happened to us. I would probably forget my own birthday!

I guess my question is why didn't she give hints to him??
