Three and a half years after winning $150,000 on a Pick 4 drawing, Karl Hartman of Chesterfield has won $5 million on a Virginia Lottery scratch-off ticket. Hartman's Pick 4 win came in 2006, when he bought 30 tickets in one Pick 4 drawing, all with the same numbers, and they all won. Now Hartman is the first player in state history to win $5 million on a scratcher ticket after claiming the top prize in Virginia's $5 million Club game on Friday. "Sometimes I get these premonitions," he said. "I just kept seeing $5 million." So the delivery truck driver stopped at Beaverdam Quick-Stop, at 19394 Beaverdam Road in Beaverdam and bought one ticket. That was the big winner. On May 7, he returned to the store to accept his prize from Virginia Lottery Executive Director Paula Otto. He had a choice between taking the full $5 million over 25 years or an immediate cash option of $3,210,000. He chose the cash option. The store received a $10,000 bonus for selling the ticket. Four $5 million tickets remain unclaimed. (Click to display in gallery)

Interesting story. I had a dream recently that I won on a purple scratch ticket. The next morning while on my way to work, I stopped by the local convenience store. While I was paying for my juice, I noticed a purple scratch ticket, I purchased it and won $100. $100 is the amount that I won in the dream also. Good luck everyone!

That happened to me once...I sure wish it would happen again for a lot more money!!! It was so unreal that I was scared to tell anyone about it. I just couldn't believe it. After that I take anyone seriously that says they had a premonition.

This guy is my inspiration , I will play a favorite win - 4 number $30 straight in NY. ( Maybe 6897 ) Does anyone know which number he played for $30 straight in 2006?? I might put a buck or two on it for good luck! ( I was never lucky with scratch off tickets, so I rarely buy them anymore, but i'm happy for all who win big when playing them! ) If someone buys like 3 , 4, or 5, scratch off tickets of the same game I go right ahead and buy one ticket of the same game they just bought, because I think what if all those tickets that person just bought for that scratch - off game didnt win anything, that would mean I might have a winner if I buy one of them

I think I might take a ride up to Virginia tomorrow. I believe Chesterfield's up by Richmond, so maybe they got a $5 mil ticket set aside for the hillbillies down in the southwest part of the state and Tennessee too. I'll never forget old whats-his-name...
