Returning game will replace Mix & Match on Monday, Thursday evenings

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — Next week, the Pennsylvania Lottery will bring back Match 6 lotto, a $2 terminal-based game offering a starting jackpot of $500,000 and four ways to win on each ticket.

Match 6 will replace Mix & Match in the Pennsylvania Lottery's Monday and Thursday evening drawing shows at 6:59 p.m. Match 6 tickets go on sale Tuesday, June 1, and the first drawing will be Thursday, June 3.

"Many of our players and retailers were disappointed when Match 6 ended in 2009, and they asked us to bring it back," Lottery Executive Director Ed Trees said. "With Mix & Match reaching the end of its three-and-a half year run, we saw an opportunity to bring back this player favorite.

"Match 6 will return — just as it was designed in its original incarnation — to provide players more ways to win and generate thousands of winning tickets every drawing."

Players can choose six numbers from 1 to 49 or select "quick pick" for computer-generated random numbers. The computer will then randomly select an additional two sets of six numbers, for three lines of six numbers each or 18 numbers total.

Players can win up to four times on each ticket — once on each of three lines (base play) and by combining all 18 numbers (combined play). The odds of winning the Match 6 jackpot by matching all six winning numbers on a single line are 1-in-4,661,272. The overall odds of winning a Match 6 prize are 1-in-5.90.

The final Mix & Match drawing will be Monday, May 31. If the final Mix & Match jackpot is not won, the jackpot will be distributed to those winners who match five of five numbers drawn, regardless of position, and those winners who match four of five numbers drawn in the same position. After the final drawing, those winners with tickets that entitle them to a free ticket will receive a $2 cash prize instead.

Since it debuted on Jan. 23, 2007, Mix & Match's largest jackpot was $791,207 cash, less 25 percent federal withholding, and it was won by a Williamsport woman in the April 2, 2007, drawing.

Very GOOD move! Now that was a game...at least it offered a bit of variety. I won't miss Mix & Match, just like I do not miss Super 7. Bad games.

$2  ...... really bad move in this economy.  $1 is more than some people can afford.

I agree with you but given the choice of Super 7 ($2), Mix & Match ($2) or Match 6...I like Match 6 so much better and was not happy they

discontinued it in the first place.

Match 6 gives 3 lines of play for each $2 game. To win - match numbers on one line alone or match numbers using all 3 lines. It is possible to

match numbers and win 2 ways on one play. It's also possible to match NOTHING and lose of course.

That was the original price to purchase the Match 6 before they discontinued it in '09

You get 2 extra lines, so in a way, for each line of play you are paying $.67.

This game is very much like Maryland's MultiMatch which also costs $2.00 for three lines of 6 numbers and they even have te same draw dates (Mon Thurs), the main difference is PA's Match 6 has better odds.

At least PA is willing to shake things up once in a while.

TN's Lottery Commission is covered with cobwebs from inactivity except for their thumbs.

They twiddle their thumbs.

Payouts in PA are better then MD and Higher starting cash jackpots.

Odds are easy- 50/50. You either hit or ya dont. Its truly that simple.

Gonna give a nice bon voyage though to mix and match since they will shell out better pays to close the books.

The game was OK, I got 4 out of 6 many times and lioke 8 or 9 out of 18 sevral times. But I still liked the Super 7 better. This game takes too long for the jackpots to raise to be worth playing. Mix and match was pretty much a joke too and way too small of payouts, and I still rarely won. But this game is still way better than power and mega rip offs.
