Someone in Dallas won a $97 million lottery jackpot in Saturday's Lotto Texas drawing.

The winning numbers announced by the Texas Lottery Commission Saturday night were 5, 10, 23, 35, 41, and 48.

The winning Lotto Texas quick pick ticket was purchased at a 7-Eleven store in the 8900 block of Garland Road in Dallas.

The purchaser opted for the cash option of the $97 million ticket — a lump sum of $64 million. After minimum tax withholding, the winner will take home about $48 million.

There were 33 people who selected five of the six winning numbers last Saturday night. They will win $2,254.

The big ticket winner has 180 days to claim the prize. Some winners aren't quick to claim the jackpot.

"We've had them kind of all over the place as far as when they come in," said Robyn Smith, a Texas Lottery Commission spokeswoman.

The massive $97 million jackpot was the result of 62 consecutive drawings without a top winner.  The jackpot started as a $4 million prize on October 24, 2009.

Another Lotto Texas drawing was held last night, this time for the starting amount of $4 million.  The winning numbers were 7, 20, 25, 26, 39, and 48.

No winning tickets matched all six numbers Wednesday night, rolling the jackpot to $5 million for the upcoming drawing on Saturday.

I think the winner should have to share with the rest of the country as a form of punishment for Texas' foisting of MegaThinkTank on society at large. Not that it's completely MTT's fault. But then again... He's no daisy. He's no daisy at all. The poor soul is just too high strung.

I Agree!

WOO HOO, this is VERY exciting that the lump sum is only apx. 36% less than the annuity amount (that's less of a spread than Mega Millions and WAY less spread than Powerball! -- congratulations big single ticket winner(s), oh what pleasure these monies will bring!!!
