You are another misguided idiot thinking that teachers make too much money.  We make enough money to buy some of the things for our students that their parents can't buy or won't buy to make sure that THEIR child is successful in school.  I am not dumb or ignorant.  I work extremely hard for my students to be successful.  But I am not their parents.  I bring home all of 2 grand a month.  I have to pay for my own medical, dental, life insurance, federal taxes and social sercurity and a small amount for the retirement system.  I don't see where that is SO much money.  I made more in the military.

The problem is you are another Tennesean who thinks that everything should be free.  I sorry I don't have that welfare mentality. I do believe that people should help one another. 

US teachers are highly educated and they work hard.  They have to overcome obstacles that teachers in other cultures don't have to deal with, murder in the classroom,daily fights, shootings, student disrespect, parent indoctrination,homelessness, drugs, student incarceration,(yes, even if they are locked up, they have to go to school) and sex.  We also have to deal with hungry children whose parents can't feed them or won't feed them. (took the food stamp money/or paycheck and bought drugs.) 

Tennesee is still at the bottom of the pile because of attitudes like yours.  They pay less per student than most other states. They are normally running neck and neck with Mississippi to see who can be last.

And based on your spelling, it's kind of hard to believe. (You have words misspelled in 3 of your 4 paragraphs) You're not teaching kids how to spell are you? If we pay you even more money, will you suddenly learn how to spell? Or did you want more money so you could take a remedial spelling class?

I'm so sorry that I've victimized you by forcing you to seek employment in a job that you think doesn't pay enough. Afterall, that's everybody's fault but yours. So sorry that we refuse to let you know what the salary is until after you start the job because if you had known, you wouldn't have taken it, right? Give me a break.

And now you want to blame me for the way kids are nowadays after generations of your liberal if-it-feels-good-do-it moral standards? Uh-Uh, no way lady. That's your baby. Your chickens have come home to roost. You wanted to coddle thugs and criminals and blame "society" instead of placing the blame where it belongs - on them - and now you are harvesting the fruits of your labor. You are reaping what you have sown. There's an old hillbilly saying once told to me by an old hillbilly, so pay attention and you might learn something: You don't plant corn and get cotton.

You should have your pay reduced until you can provide evidence that you're doing your job properly. Any raises should be given on merit and not tenure or seniority. There should be rigorous standards to be a teacher.

It's just common sense that someone who doesn't know how to spell should not be teaching our children how to spell.

I really do NOT want to get in the middle of your argument here, but littleoldlady’s spelling errors may have been typos.  I’m not sure you should bash her intelligence or her teaching abilities for that.  Honestly, we all make mistakes and usually when we are upset we miss small things such as typos.

I recently graduated from college and now I’m looking for ateaching job myself.  Did I major in education?  No.  I majored in Atmospheric Physics.  So, why am I going into teaching?  Because I love teaching students, and every teacher out there enjoys what they do. If they didn’t enjoy it they wouldn’t be doing it.  Pay isn’t everything as long as you love what you do.  It is obvious littleoldlady loves her job and I respect her for what she does.  (And if you can read this message you shouldhold respect for educators as well.)  It’s very rewarding despite all the negativity that comes with the job. 

I do NOT blame educators for poor academic standings and/or dropout rates.  It is the student who ultimately  decides whether or not to embrace education.  And maybe, just maybe the parents are at fault for not caring about their child’s academic standing.

I stated a well known, documented fact about our teachers in general terms in a previous post not directed at her and she came back and called me an idiot for it.

And what are you upset about? Me of course, for pointing out a teacher's spelling errors. Of course they had to be typos! Of course they did!  Even when she slipped into Ebonics and said "I sorry..."  That was a typo too, right? Sure it was.

And none of the dummies coming out of our schools today are the fault of the teachers, we all know that. You keep telling us.

You say that if I can read your message (it's kind of hard when you don't put spaces between all the words) that I should hold respect for educators. Well sorry darlin, I was reading before I started Kindergarten, no thanks to any teacher besides my mother. It's really not that hard of a job. It's just that teachers today are too concerned with indoctrinating every student with their liberal ideology first and teaching them the 3 r's later sometime. You have to make sure that every student is "environmentally aware" and willing to "celebrate diversity" and "celebrate alternate lifestyles" and willing to "celebrate" getting condoms from the Principal's Office at 5 years old.

Yeah, what a proud profession. And it's working out so well, isn't it? Oh wait, I forgot, it's not your fault, you're all victims.

Sir, you just called a MALE “darlin” which doesn’t sound soconservative to me.  Believe it or not Iam conservative.  Have you ever heardof NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND?  Yeah, it statesthat ALL TEACHERS must have highly qualified credentials on order toteach.  I’ll let you do your homework andsee if you can find out what it takes to become highly qualified. 

Finally, I will say this.  My previous post wasn’t to bash you.  It was to enlighten you.  Apparently you failed to see the point and started bashing me. I’m not apsychiatrist, but folks who do that online (because they have that safetybarrier) are in real life insecure. 

Sorry for calling you darlin' but take into account that I'm older and come from a time when men did manly things and women were the schoolmarms. I'm well aware that that's all changed now in your preferred "unisex" world and should have avoided that so antiquated term of endearment. My gnarly apology, Dude.
