Players can win $100,000 a year for life

CONCORD, N.H. — Gamblers are getting a sneak peak at a new game from the New Hampshire Lottery that could net them $100,000 a year for life.

Lottery Commission Executive Director Charlie McIntyre will unveil the commission's $20 instant ticket "Set for Life" game on Wednesday in Center Conway.

The commission will hold two grand prize drawings, one after about half the 700,000 tickets for the game are sold and another at the end of the game, marketing director Maura McCann said Friday.

Five finalists will be drawn for each grand prize drawing from all the players who won $1,000 or more on the ticket. Players can win between $20 and $25,000 instantly playing the game.

The five finalists for each grand prize drawing will win cash or a chance at $100,000 for life, guaranteed for a minimum of 20 years. Four will walk away with one of the following cash prizes: $25,000, $50,000, $75,000 or $100,000. The fifth finalist will have a chance to win either $250,000 cash or $100,000 a year for life.

McCann said the fifth finalist might have to match numbers on cards to win the $100,000 for life. She said the details are still being worked out.

"It's going to be more or less where the person has a choice to make," she said.

The Lottery Commission is offering players a special deal to promote the ticket at Center Conway's Stateline Store from 2-6 p.m. Wednesday. Players can buy the $20 ticket ahead of its statewide release on Aug. 2 plus they will be able to buy one during those hours and get one free.

McCann said the state expects to make $14 million from the game.

Sounds like an ok game but they should just call it what it is - a $20 scratcher with the possibility  of a 2 million dollar top prize paid by an annuity over a 20 year period. Only one person, the 5th finalist, will have a chance to win the top prize and if he doesn't, it won't be awarded to anyone.

And I've never understood how you can get away with calling 20 years "for life".  If someone wins one of these at 20 years old, do they die at 40?

I think they will find this is illegal.
You can't make money off this and not give away the top prize.

Casinos can't do it in free  no way they should be allowed to do it to paying customers.

The "For Life" is the selling point. Really it's just a 2 million dollar top prize. For $20 a ticket not much of a great game now I thought about it some more. Would be great if it's a lum sum 2 millions but over the spand of 20yrs not so good. Players beware! lol

No the top prize is 250,000
With the possibility of 2 million.
Love to know how they are going to advertise this..  Figure out the odds.

I know it's gambling but this is like a bait and switch.
I can't think of another game where the top prize might not be awarded.

Sounds like an opportunity for a second chance to win. Love second chances lolol. ;) Best of luck for all in New Hampshire, and beyond, who have an opportunity to play! :)

Blessings,
Karinda

P.S. If anyone reading this can PM me and tell me how I may have changed a setting that's preventing me from formating my posts, I would appreciate it. :(

Just to clarify, I have no information other than what I read in the article.

But it doesn't seem to mention any contingency for awarding the $2 million other than giving the 5th finalist a shot at it.

What I said is just my opinion from what I read in the article.

It almost sounds like this is a raffle in scratcher form.

$20 sounds a little steep for such a game.

Curently Illinois has a $1, $500 a week for life game, 12 top prizes

$2, $1,000 a week for life, 12 top prizes

and a$5, $2500 a week for life, 4 top prizes.

The ads say "The longer you live the more you win".

I know that usually gambling prizes (someone dies in a casino and has chips in the rail on a crap table, for instance) go into a perons's estate, but I'm not sure about this "The longer you live the more you win".

FL has a series of "Life" games..

FL's $10 "Lucky for Life" game has 4 Top Prizes (1 left) for $100,000 year for life and also a $20 scratcher called "$200,000 for Life"

Here in CA, we have Set for Life with 100K dollars for 20 years. 12 grand prizes have been claimed with 13 still available. Prize of the ticket is $5.

I think CA can make theirs cheaper because of population.

It seemed pricey, but the current 250,000 game there is $20.

This one has the chance at 2 mil for the same price.
