They said a single ticket sold at a Tedeschi Food store on Neponset Avenue in Dorchester matched all five numbers plus the Mega Ball selected in the Friday, Aug. 19 Mega Millions drawing to win the multi-state game's $32 million jackpot. The ticket bearing the winning numbers was 5, 15, 53, 54, and 56, with Mega Ball number 22, lottery officials said. The Lottery said it will not know who the jackpot winner is until they come forward to claim the prize. The earliest they could do so is 8:45 a.m. on Monday morning when the Lottery's Braintree headquarters opens for business, but the player has up to one year from the drawing date to claim his or her winnings. The winner has the option of receiving the full $32 million jackpot in annual prize payments over 26 years or taking a one-time lump sum payment of $22.9 million. The store owner will also benefit from this jackpot win by receiving a $50,000 commission for selling the lucky ticket. The last time a Massachusetts player won a Mega Million jackpot was on July 2, 2004 when Geraldine Williams, a retired janitor from Lowell, won the then-record $294 million top prize. Other Massachusetts residents have been lucky this summer playing the Lottery's multi-state jackpot games. On June 8, Jimmy Freeman, a retired Navy civilian worker from Fall River, took home a $25.6 million Powerball jackpot. He came forward the following day to claim the prize, selecting the $13.4 million cash option, the lottery said. Mega Millions is played in 41 states, Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Each ticket costs $1. The game is drawn every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. in Atlanta, Ga. WCVB We'd love to see your comments here! Man I wish it was me. A coworker of mine plays lottery too and I was hoping it was her. It would be cool if I could just win Mass Cash.

My map book doesn't list Dorchester, where the ticket was bought. I hope it's not on Martha's Vineyard where a certain person is staying at a $50,000 a week resort eating lobster while a lot of people can't even find a job or pay for the $3.50 a gallon gas to get to one. That would suck big time if he bought it. I'll never forget old whats-his-name...

Does he know Powerball is going up to $2 in January? That's right, Powerball will be doubling their price come January. Good thing it's a twice a week game rather than a three time+ game. Congratulations to the winning ticket holder(s) in Massachusetts!!! Fun, peace of mine, & bliss!!! Having millions of dollars in my financial accounts means more, consistent fun for me.

Reason you didn't find, Dorchester is part of the Boston Hub like South End, North End, Roxbury, etc Get those numbers that fell: #5, 15, 53, 54, and 56, with Mega Ball Master Number 22 as a kicker! Congrats to winner! EddessaKnight

Congrats to the winner. I have to know, if Worchester is "Wooster" is Dorchester "Dooster"?
I know that another Boston 'burb, Quincy, is "Quinzee", so maybe someone at Fenway Pack could reply and let us know! That is of course after they've had a tonic and if they are wicked smat. When all states allow winners to remain anonymous some clod will want a press conference.

Man I wish it was me. A coworker of mine plays lottery too and I was hoping it was her. It would be cool if I could just win Mass Cash. Its interesting that for more than 6 years MA went without anybody winning an interstate jackpot and then suddenly in 2011 its been hit twice so far. The curse of the Bambino? hahaha I play PB & MM very sparingly. I am nowadays chasing Mass Cash and MegaBucks Doubler. Tonite from mass cash I played these numbers, 1,7,24,27,30.
