mums the word. no one would know.not the media, this site or no one else I didn't want to know.you never know what people are thinking, because with that amount of money people don't think rational. I say wait about 7 months, get trust set up and then cash ticket.like they say"jealous ones envy"
If you wait 7 months there is a good chance you wouldn't get a dime from your winnings. The wait period in most state is 180 days.

I get to my regular store to purchase an extra ticket last nite, and their lottery machines have been down since noon for updates! The day before the biggest cash jackpot ever! Ding Cuckoo! I went to another store for the extra ticket! Updates ? on the eve of the largest cash jackpot in history Someone at that store doesn't have their priorities straight. Just glad you were able to get your tickets...you never know but this could be karma

If you were fortunate enough to win, taking the annuity wouldn't be too wise considering the rate of return is roughly 1.5% paid out over 26 years. Not only that, but the top Federal tax rate may never be this low again(35%) especially with the spiraling national debt and the out of control government spending. You may very well be looking at a top tier tax rate in the 60-70% range by the time your entire annuity is disbursed. If you take the lump sum and invest wisely, you could grow your principal way beyond what the annuity value is today...it would only take an ROI with a minimum of 2% to be ahead. I am sure any competent investor/money manager could get you returns that are several percentntage points higher. Not only would you grow your principal but you would enrich the lives of future generations and those you care most as well as any charity of your choice. Well said .............you couldn't of said this any clearer . Commenting to what someone said rational with this amount of money , I know exactly what , I would do . I have a list of plans , I have 2 cousins who works for the same "financial firm " One is a tax lawyer the other cousin is a CPA , they work with this daily . There clients are wealthy . Another friend he's a lawyer , his jobs the same thing . I know I have plenty of help . I know what you're thinking cousins can ripoff family too . I thought of that . I have enough confidences , they will do the job . There's 2 other financial firms waiting in the wings . I won't be setting idle , that's for sure . Stay busy .

Have to agree with you 100% Jill...........There are folks on here that just think the annuity is a better deal....lol.....Maybe for them and their spending habits it is.....For me, its about getting/giving large amounts NOW and getting rid of those pesky taxes NOW. The future is too uncertain for me when it comes to taxes(Fed & State) on this kind of cash....I will take odds that the tax rate in 2020-2035 "ain't going to be this low"....I could be wrong.....I point to the list of both Powerball and MM winners,,,looks like "take the cash and go NOW" is the exercised theme there....It will be interesting to see how the winner(s) address this windfall when it comes to the media. Jackpots...Just Average Citizens Keeping Possibilities Open Towards Security

how much of the jackpot if you win will you out right spend on things like cars, homes, jewelry, electronics and other such toys. At first , I wouldn't buy nothing , not till everything is done with tax lawyer , CPA , period . Financial stuff always comes first . Check my list and then see what needs done next . I wouldn't spend on myself , make sure , I follow through on the list ........

faber98, the net cash payout after taxes would be roughly 170 million while that is a substantial amount of money it's still less than half of the 363 million jackpot. I believe we are well equipped to handle it. Unlike what the far left and this current administration wants you to believe not everyone in the financial field is crooked. Many of the "unscrupulous people" you referred to are dear friends of ours and the majority of them are loyal and honest while having the utmost integrity. My husband traded futures and commodities at the CME for over 15 years and is a former partner of a successful hedge fund with over a billion under management so yes I KNOW he is more than qualified if we were to win. Odds are we won't win anything as usual but we will continue to enjoy life. BTW, we already have a sizeable investment portfolio, both our homes are paid off and we have no debt. The next time you assert that someone has no concept on the value of a large jackpot or are ill equipped to handle it, I suggest you know a little more about them prior. if you're that astute and financially well off why are you even bothering to play lottery tickets. these people you "trust" will turn on you in a new york minute if you don't carve out a decent slice of your "winnings to them", either directly or allow them to manage some of it. not that you really have to worry about this happening (because it won"t) but human nature is predictable in cases like this and at least you will have each other because your allleged "friends in high finance" will snub you.

Is your message that people that are well off have no business playing the lottery? Whatever financial stratosphere we come from, even if your a multi-millionaire, we all still have the same excitement and allure of a mega lottery win. Obviously you have a huge mistrust of people in general, just don't pass along that judgement to everyone else on this site.

Faber, you're making yourself look ridiculous at this point. This person has given sound advice--FREE advice--for several days on here that I know of, clearly coming from the perspective of someone who's knowledgeable about money---serious money---and investing it. She's done so without braggadocio or pretense. Why you're getting up in her grill on here about what she does for a living is beyond me or I'm sure most people reading your posts. I probably won't be winning tonight, I realize that. If I did, she impresses me to the extent I'd clearly consider--after doing due diligence natually---hiring her and her husband to invest a portion of my windfall. Hope you do yourself a favor and buy a ticket or two for tonight. As I mentioned earlier, you could spread alot of good cheer with a winning draw while saving enough for yourself to enjoy life.
