Congrats to the lucky winners, enjoy ! Yes congrats to the winners. I live in the same town as the winners and since I work in Little Silver (where they bought their tickets and that is where I buy my tickets at 7-11), I thought my ship had come in but it hasn't. Maybe one of these days. When I do win: I'd buy a house (don't own one yet), trade in my 2002 car for a new one, share some with my family and loved ones, go on a golf vacation with my buddies, go to Hawaii with my girlfriend, go to Disney with my daughter and siblings, travel to tennis and golf tournaments, go to NBA, NFL and MLB games all around the country, $ponsor local money tennis tournaments (I teach tennis), and work at rehabbing some foreclosed homes in my area. Other than that, be a good person and try to live a good life. Ahhh.... You hear me Ridge!

Just validates that $1000 in tickets isn't needed Buying $1000 worth of tickets, by any means, will not increase any odds of winning the JP. You either have the drawn numbers or you don't.

In some cases, not coming forward can make it a lot more difficult for yourself. When no one comes forward or does it secretely, this can create more of a firestorm. Many people are jealous of lotto winners. Neighbors and even family members. And with this day and age with the amount of media happening 24/7, its almost impossible to go from rags to riches and not have anyone notice. Sure you should tell almost no one when you hit big. But some PR people will tell you to do a press release and keep it short and generic. The quicker its done, the quicker someone else will hit the big one and move the attention from you. Otherwise, you will continuly be waiting for the story of your win to unfold. And that attention could be 10 fold to if you were to just release a generic press release. Most of us would love to stay unknown after a big win for sure. But it just may be next to impossible to do so.

Hey Gym, I think you could keep yourself anonymous if you let your attorney form a trust for you and then let your attorney claim the money on behalf of the trust. The attorney faces the media instead of you. I've heard people on this forum and other legal sites recommend it. Lottery officials and the IRS would know the true identity of the person behind the trust (they do a social security number sweep to see if you owe back taxes or child support). But the media would not know the person behind the trust. However, your friends, relatives, neighbors and co-workers would probably find out (word of mouth) and you'd have to have a strategy to deal with them. Other than that, enjoy the winnings and take care of the people you love and those that love you, mate!

Idiots. The Powerball jackpot was a third the size of the Mega Millions, a ticket cost twice as much as a Mega Millions, and the odds of winning are now the same as Mega Millions. What kind of idiots buy Powerball lottery tickets in that situation? Oh yeah, people who won $70M doing it. Idiots.

now this idiot needs to get lucky just 70 miles south of them, i got tix for the states 6/49 game @ 10.6 mil. i think these winners play same game, but instead won a game w/ much higher odds than state game. Extraordinary Popular Delusions & the Madness of Crowds -- Charles Mackay LL.D.
