Well, rarely do I buy tickets, but this got me going, not every day we have a record jackpot. People at the "7-Eleven" were telling me they were using numbers of their family birthdays, some other crazy strategies, one guy said "play my numbers and we will take that jackpot". ;) Well, good luck to all of you, by the way there was a nice girl selling Mega tickets at this store, and I gave my word to give her a % of this jackot if I'm the winner :).

Why doesn't the jackpot analysis show the full annuity payments for each year like PB does on USAMEGA?

The more they raise the 'estimated value' the more people talk and the more attention it gets... resulting in more sales... why put 500 million out there if u can sell x amount of tix at 476.. and then x amount more once ppl see 1/2billion... all marketing Which means it could most likely increase again Friday noon and one more before 3pm, and another one at 7pm. This could leave some room for them to pocket some few millions that were not included in the estimated value. Since it was not reported to the public.

DON'T shoot the messenger.... I Just read this on another website I frequent.....I personally think it's bunk but hey we are talking about $$$$$$ so I suppose anything is possible. They have security to prevent this from happening right?? "THE LOTTERY IS RIGGED You may have heard that you are more likely to be hit on the head by a meteorite than to win the lottery. This is certainly so. Assuming that the game is honest, the odds are roughly one in several hundred million. Even with these odds, lottery commissions are not satisfied. The lottery is rigged. The giant multi-state and individual state lotteries are more fixed than pro wrestling. The jackpots go up and up, with no winners. People get lottery fever. Millions nationwide are willing to wait in a line just like the ones for bread in the former Soviet Union for the pipe dream of striking it rich. The rigging works like this: super computers keep track of each combination sold, and then the ping-pong balls are weighted to assure that a losing combination comes up. On rare occasions, all possible combinations are sold, and they must let someone win. Only then is the game honest. Why? The lottery, which is a state-run version of the Mafia's numbers racket, is a great money grab scam, as long as it brings in more than it pays out. In the past, lotteries were abolished because they lost money. The worst part of this is whom it hurts. The poor and desperate are the most common victims of lottery fever. Children go hungry and senior citizens go without their medication because of it. People prone to gambling addiction also blow huge sums. We spoke with an employee at a state lottery agency. We can not reveal his name or even which state, as some of the same gangsters who ran the numbers racket now run the lottery, and they would kill him. “Yes, I personally am involved in it. Lottery ping-pong balls have a small valve, like a basketball or soccer ball, only it’s very tiny, and nearly invisible. We use a hypodermic needle to inject heavier-than-air gasses such as radon into the balls we don’t want to come up. At first, we tried helium in the ones we did want to rise, but they jumped up so quickly that it was obvious. Lotteries are raking in much more than if the games were honest, and people don’t know they have literally no chance!” “If you think about it logically, you certainly don’t play anyway. You are betting that you can predict which six of 45 or more balls are going to come out of the hopper. In some games, the order even matters! It’s a sucker’s bet, and that’s when it’s honest! Most drawings are rigged, making the odds zero in infinity! The lottery is not only a tax on people who don’t understand math; it is an unfair and unjust tax. Didn’t we have the American Revolution over taxes like that?” You read it here first." At some point someone has to win And if this theory had any validity, the Powerball is doing a POOR JOB of RIGGING because over the last three jackpot wins they have lost money! "Freedom of Speech? No lottery lines in either the convenience store or our main grocery store when I was there an hour or so ago. There was only one clerk in the convenience store and I didn't even have to wait for anyone buying beer or cigarettes.

Why doesn't the jackpot analysis show the full annuity payments for each year like PB does on USAMEGA? The Mega Millions jackpot analysis page shows the yearly payment on the left side. Unlike Powerball, Mega Millions doesn't progressively increase each year. Instead, it is divided over 26 years, each of which is an equal payment. So for Indiana, the yearly payment would be $14,870,769 after taxes. Gonna win.

Why doesn't the jackpot analysis show the full annuity payments for each year like PB does on USAMEGA? Because, sirbrad, different lottery companies run each game. Consequently, PB chose to increase annuity payment by 4% each 29 annual payments, yet MM chose to pay out each of their 26 annual annuity payments at the same amount each time. Note that both ways would require the winning receiver to pay the top Federal Income Tax Bracket each payment though.
Having millions of dollars in my financial accounts means more, consistent fun for me.

Awesome!!!This thing may just get to 600m...And for anyone thinking of the annunity, I know it sounds inviting, but taxes for sure will never go down again. They will only go up. We could easily see the high end tax of federal alone over the next 10 years jump over 50%. That is a lot of money to leave on the table.

Wonder why they keep changing the estimated value? The headquarter know right away any winning tickets in each prizes and the total amount of tickets purchased in every states. Yet the jackpot is "estimated" and change frequently. Not that I complain about the increase value, however why don't they get it right instead of keep guessing. This is an unprecedented lottery. When Jackpots get this high (Record high for USA, ever!), ticket spending is beyond all comprehension. The "estimated" Jackpot is just a guideline only. Lotteries in the past have had may occurrences where the jackpot was "upped' because of insane sales activity. The lottery has no crystal ball to predict such incredible surges in sales. However in this instance, with a world record lottery at stake, it is no surprise of these regular lottery increases. (not roll overs). They are not "guessing" at anything, just following the sales of tickets of the now "Biggest Lottery in the World" and adjusting the Jackpot accordingly. And why shouldn't they be doing this? This is a "win win" for everybody included! Players, states, education programs and our economy!
