For 2010-2012 the max gift tax rate is $5mil and 35%. In 2009 it was $3.5mil and either 45-55%. Before 2001 prior to the Bush tax cut it was 675K .You are allowed to gift $13k per year or 26k as a married couple. For 2013, it may revert back to 1Mil and at least 45% on anything over. Thanks Jill34768, Man the government gets their chunk in the beginning and if I wanted to be nice and give my parents some, it wouldnt be worth it.

Lottery changed my life on TLC... Terry & Shanon Hamilton won 9 million in the Oregon megabucks lottery. 4/7/10 They were able to split the money, part cash and part annuity..$2,250,000 cash and $180,000 a year for the annuity... Good luck Friday

OK. I have one for the masses here. This is one I have never run into before. I am a... for lack of a better phrase - contract employee. I work for myself but with several different companies. One of the companies who owes me ALOT of back pay (I invoice per project), today as I was dropping off my last invoice (no more work until I get paid - they are 120 days out already)... gave me an envelope and the district manager gave me a wink and a nod saying that he would see me on Monday as he was certain that what was in the envelope would 'more than cover all my outstanding invoices'. I was puzzled, but pulled off my gloves, and opened the envelope... to find **5 MM tickets inside** each ticket had **1** line. I looked at him and said 'you ARE kidding me right? this is your idea of some kind of a joke' um... no they werent kidding. evidently the COO in a moment of 'brilliance' went out and purchased 1 MM ticket per outstanding invoice for ALL their vendors. all the others (I was assured) were willing to 'play ball' so they were mystified as to why I was not. UNBELIEVABLE. 23,000+ in outstanding invoices and they give me 5MM tickets. my dh still is laughing at my frustration. they wiill SO not be seeing me on Monday. OH - I forgot the best part. They were self selected numbers that they made record of so that they will know who wins with the tickets they purchased.

My prediction. Likely 100, second tier winners. 1 ticket shall hit it, NorthEast. My mind is leaning towards Pennsylvania. Dpoly, you might get your wish. Oh and it might very well be a quickpick.
PS: The jackpot would increase to $580 million before the draw, the sales in Texas are crazy!

That is really someone's idea of a very bad joke. I would keep the envelope and tickets for the lawyers. Posters are not forever...

Just a guess but I think by the time all of us weary headed dreamers wake up, this MONSTER will have been raised again. Brilliant strategy to BOOST sales!!! Hand me the butter knife out of the draw and stand back... I have a MONSTER to take down!
