What could possibly happen to someone who post a winning ticket online? FaceBook not good, but an online forum? What could happen in todays world its not all that hard to track some one down online. there are some nuts and organizations out there who would do about anything for some money. posting that winning ticket on a lottery forum website would be one of the first places to look for winners.

I think it's hilarious that some individual people were spending thousands of dollars on lottery tickets and spending hours filling out numbers, and the person in Maryland won on a $1 quick pick from a lottery vending machine. That should teach people a lesson. Very true. I seen a guy buy 43 dollars in QPs and I know he didn't win the JP, but I don't if he won any lower prizes. The point is he did not win part of the big one, even though he spent 43 dollars. Spending an arm and a leg is not going to help you win. I don't spend too much, but if I happen to be in a store that sells tickets I will buy one from there, even though I already have my tickets for that night.

There are 10 US states which don't even crack a population of 1 million. Then you have the "big" 4, CA, TX, NY and FL that have
a combined population of over 102 million. It's really all about the numbers of people playing in each state which determine the most frequent jackpot winners. Quick picks are the most popular way to play the lotteries, another reason why they come up so much more often than self picks.

Wow, the NASCAR guy(I remember him) who won 75 million playing Mega Millions has spent nearly 20 million dollars in three years! And it looks he won't slow down his extreme spending anytime soon.

Don't know the particulars of the lotteries in each of these states. My state (NH), has a pop. of 1,300,000 and is a member of a multi-state lottery with VT. (pop. about 625,000), and ME about the same pop. as NH. I feel bad for these low population states, but whatta you gonna do?

He seems like a really nice guy but when his money goes, so will his high profile NASCAR friends. He is like a kid in a candy store. Why do so many of these winners not set aside something (even 10, 20% in something as simple as CDs)?

@mc56 well theres good things about low pop. states too, gotta take the good w/ the bad. Less congestion, pollution, crowded freeways, stress. Many good qualities about these "smaller" states. NH is much like these states, I have no complaints.

i took a trip to N.H. once back in the 70s my sister lived near concord in a spooky old farmhouse. i even drove up that mt.washington, did they ever get around to putting gard rails on that road ? There are many "haunted" and "spirit infested" homes here in the Granite State! I can personally attest. I have seen and heard things that you would never believe. Most of the haunted homes, or even older government buildings have a very long history, going back 300+ years or more. As a commercial cleaning contractor, I had one account, a very old church/parish hall that sat by a river in Milford NH. from day 1, all my employees who had worked there heard noises, footsteps, saw draws opening and closing by themselves, would all of a sudden feel a strong gust of wind inside the building! Nobody would work there anymore. I finally let the account go. Anyhow getting to the Mt. Washington roadway, haven't been up there in a while myself, I believe because of safety reasons those rails were installed years ago.
