Cover-up alleged in Arkansas Lottery

I had to reread the article ... I am flabbergasted (love being able to use that word).  How stupid must this retailer be?  At minimum they should be fined and their ability to sell lottery tickets revoked... and no wonder the public doesnt think that the lottery is legit!

I'm not completely sure, but what it sounds like to me is, when the "Bonus $50" box has the gold bar looking symbol thing, it is most likely in the same spot on every winning ticket that has that symbol.

So my guess is, the retailer figured that if they could scratch a tiny mark out of the middle of that box, if they see some type of ink that looks consistent with the "Bonus $50" winning symbol, then they know it's a winner.

This particular retailer probably knows the difference between a "$50 Bonus Box" winner & a non "Bonus Box" winner by the small "pin prick" scratch that they made on the tickets, revealing part of the ink underneath.

The retailer obviously trid to make it a small tick p=mark, thinking no one would notice.

I've bought tickets before with a small scratch/tick out of the machines here in FL. Those marks were caused by the tickets falling out of the bin and down to the catch at the bottom.  FL Tickets don't have any tickets currently out in which a person can tell a winner by super small marking/scratch, unless it is big enough to read one of the letters underneath the latex. In that case Id return it to the retailer immediately

Please excuse me for not being so "quick on the draw" here, but it seems to me that the retailer was actually trying to help. From what I can see, he insisted on the ticket(s) which contained prizes...and the customer ended up recovering $20 instead of losing $20 altogether. So, we complain about getting our money back with the very good possibility of winning a large prize? Wow! I mean, the clerk didn't know for certain that the tickets were all winners as one of them was a loser, in fact.

The name Honest James comes to mind here. Lots of folk on this big earth just don't know a blessing when they encounter it. Let's try this one more time: The guy seems to be more comfortable with losing at the odds of the ticket than to have a slight edge at the urge of the seller????? 

This story would've never made the press had he won the $1M...and I can guarantee that. He's just angry at the fact that someone else might come along and also experience good fortune...maybe even more so than his. Man, that's just crazy. Reporting someone that's trying to help people possibly win, or, at least get their money back on some flawed tickets.

It wasn't the clerk's fault...he was just taking advantage of the opportunity to sell high probability winning tickets. If this is the case, then if anyone here goes to their corner store and purchases a ticket at the suggestion of the clerk, and it's a BIG WINNER, then give it back and report the clerk!!!!!!

Common sense really isn't so common.

Sneaky lil "%$^@(*&". The best punishment would be to remove lotto sales from the location, not just revoke. Its too easy to switch business names and start over. I hope other states take notice.
