All times shown are Eastern Time (GMT-5:00) | $181 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot ramps up Powerball: $181 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot ramps up52 Rating:By Todd Northrop There was no jackpot winner in the Wednesday night drawing of the multi-state Powerball lottery game, causing the grand prize to increase to an estimated $181 million for Saturday's drawing. Wednesday was the 11th consecutive drawing without a jackpot winner. The jackpot run started June 27 as a $40 million jackpot. The estimated cash value for the new jackpot is $123 million. After-tax cash and annuity prize amounts are reported state-by-state on the Jackpot Analysis page at USA Mega, a web site devoted to the Powerball and Mega Millions multi-state lottery games. Players should note that jackpot amounts are conservative estimates provided by the lotteries, and are often somewhat higher by the time the drawing occurs. Although there were no jackpot winners Wednesday, 5 lucky players matched the first 5 numbers for a $1,000,000 prize: 1 from Colorado, 1 from Illinois, 1 from Louisiana, 1 from New York, and 1 from South Carolina. None of the second-prize winners purchased the Power Play option. If they had, their second-prize win would have automatically doubled to $2 million. 26 tickets matched four white numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. Of those tickets, 2 were purchased with the Power Play option, increasing the prize to $40,000. The Powerball winning numbers for Wednesday, August 1, were 3, 16, 48, 56, and 58, with Powerball number 4. When a Powerball ticket is purchased with the Power Play option for an extra $1 per ticket, any non-jackpot prize is increased according to a fixed prize schedule, which can be found on the Powerball Drawing Detail page at USA Mega, as well as on the Powerball Prize Payouts page at Lottery Post. Powerball is now played in 42 states, plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Tickets cost $2 each. The Powerball winning numbers are published at USA Mega (www.usamega.com) minutes after the drawing takes place. Lottery Post Staff We'd love to see your comments here! I wish that the lottery choose one of my combinations as the winner to redistribute some taxes.
Lotteries represent redistribution of wealth at its finest.Lotteries know the geographical areas that will win the biggest prizes. That is the reason why quick picks win more jackpots than self picks.
The Connecticut asset managers combination was chosen as the winner in that geographical area. They won a $254M Powerball Jackpot with $1 Quick Pick Ticket. HOW TO WIN THE LOTTERY BY NOT PLAYING=SAVE YOUR MONEY TO PLAY THE LOTTERY SOMEDAY.
I WILL PLAY THE LOTTERY SOMEDAY TO AVOID THE LOTTERY INSANITY. IT IS OKAY TO DREAM.

The Powerball is stingy with their increments after the $100 Million Mark. Had this been Mega Millions it would have been well over $200 Million by now! I hate this new Powerball game, but I'll play my $2.00 for the chance to win anyway..lol

Seems like the big mega has killed the lotto hype. This would usually be big news but no one or the media is talking about it. and make your last check bounce.
