Mega Millions

HYANNIS, Mass. — A Massachusetts man is $30.5 million richer after splitting Tuesday night's $61 million Mega Millions jackpot with a co-winner from California.

Sandeep "Sunny" Singh can hardly catch his breath. Today he's posing for pictures with a giant check for $30.5 million. Yesterday, this newly minted millionaire was busy working two jobs to help his mom pay the bills.

"Ahh, I'm like overwhelmed right now," he said after cashing in his ticket at Lottery headquarters.

He was so busy he nearly missed out on buying his winning ticket. Sunny's sister ran to the AM PM convenience store in Hyannis to buy a quick pick Mega Millions ticket for him.

Wednesday night, other customers visited the store are hoping lightning strikes twice.

"He did it, I can do it," said a customer purchasing a bunch of tickets.

"Oh yeah, I know him. He works in the Best Buy. He comes all the time. He's a regular customer," said the clerk. He added that he's happy for Sunny because he's "a nice guy."

So how does a 22-year-old spend all this money?

"Helping my mom with her mortgage, helping family, and donate some money to the community," he said. Sunny also mentioned he'd like to get his bachelor's degree in business.

But he won't be buying gifts for a girlfriend. She dumped him a couple weeks ago.

"No, no lucky girlfriend, just broke up with her, Nice. Ha ha. Thank God!" he giggled.

The ex is out of luck. But that just means more winnings to go around for the other ladies in Sunny's life, his mom, his sister, and his baby niece.

"My mom needs the help and my family can definitely use it so God helped us out at the right time," he says.

Sunny took the lump sum of $23 million. He plans to give two weeks notice at Best Buy and wait until the end of the quarter to leave the bank where he works.

$1000 says she will be calling him back soon to reconcile things.

She will also pretend to not know about his fortunate windfall.  Jester Laugh

No doubt, she will reminisce about all the good times they had and looking forward to getting back while planning their future together. In terms of knowing about his winnings, she will claim that work has been so hectic and she hasn't had time to even watch the news.Wink

My advice to Sandeep, block her number and move out of the area.

Good advice Jill. Thumbs Up

Any communication with her will be his downfall.

Years ago I lost a job and my girlfriend dumped me.  A few months later I got a new job that pays much higher.  Miraculously, she called me to reconcile and saying that it was really all her fault.  I said no to her and she really got mad.  To this day if I see her she won't talk to me.

At 22 years old I would almost never recommend taking a lump sum.  But since he works at a bank until the end of the quarter, he can get some good advice hopefully.  Continued blessings to this man and his family for his hard work and dedication.

Am I the only one who finds Sandeep's nickname (Sunny) incongruent? Shouldn't it be Sandy?

And I'm not even going to mention the return of LottoPerro, only 6 days after his farewell speech to Lottery Post and the humiliation wrought upon those bidding him a tearful fare-thee-well, myself included. I'm going to stay away from that completely.

Sorry guys i just couldn't resist. A person from the middle east named "sandeep".get it sand deep.LOL

The winner is not from the middle east, as interpreted presumptuously by you, because of his name, Sandeep.

The name Sandeep has origins in South Asia, which is not part of the Middle East, and while Sandeep could have been born here in the USA, or in any other country, including those in South Asia where his family may have ever lived, his name alone does not render his origins positively to the Middle East.

Your assignment of Sandeep's origins is presumptuous and the play and ridicule with the name is un-called for and un-necessarily demeaning of another human being, his name and the name that he shares with history, and thousands of others around the world.

Your ridiculing of his name, and invitation to others to share in this act, and laugh out laud with you is diss-allowed by various laws of the USA, no matter how inclined you are to reduce, or demean another persons, because your presumption that their national origin is different from yours, and is traced to the middle east.

From the wiki name website the following is offered  as the meaning of the name:

"Sandeep derives from the Sanskrit words Sana, which means "old" or "eternal" and deep, which means "light," so the meaning of the name is most accurately translated as "eternal light "

I have written to help sustain the high-standards that the Lottery post projects, and to discourage you from the advancement of standards that retards the hopes of many, who seek to rise above, the long record of bigotry, espoused by some, within our USA.

Very informative. Good info. But you could probably do well to take a chill pill.

No laws were broken.
