I think that's just how it is...might have something to do with taxes....it's 4-6 weeks here in NC from what I hear...I wouldn't care myself...knowing I was going to be richer than I was 4-6 weeks ago.... This may be a silly question, but seeing all this time has gone by, why will it take the lottery more than a month to issue her first check?? This time is needed to check government databases to determine if the winner owes back taxes, child support, liens, alimony, etc. It is better to get that sorted out, and it can only commence once the winner comes forward and provides personal identification information. It amuses me when I read about winners getting charged for tax evasion by having others claim tickets. So instead of paying 25 to 40 percent of winnings in taxes, they end up paying 60 to 70 percent in taxes, penalties and fines, interest, and years behind bars. I would much rather walk away free and clear with, say $700,000 of a $1 million jackpot win than to be faced with years of legal issues and significantly less winnings by trying to avoidaging Uncle Obama his fair share of taxes. That said, I would claim in a lump sum because Obama might take a page from France president Francois Hollande and raise taxes on those earning over $1 million in a year (yes that would include you Mr./Mrs. Lottery Winner!) to 75 percent! How would that make you feel to be pictured holding a check for $1 million, but only see $200K to $250K deposited into your bank account? Get MONEY!!! Winning a JACKPOT lottery is all the HOPE and CHANGE I desire!!! NOW give me MONEY! | | |
