Washington Lottery

Talk about having a lucky day.

Cary Collings of Puyallup, Washington, had just such a day, when he won the lottery not once, but twice, within 24 hours.

The 61-year-old first won $55,555 in the "Red Hot 5"s" scratch-off ticket lottery on June 14.

Collings purchased his scratch card on Thursday as he filled up his car at the River Road Food Mart on River Road in Puyallup, Washington.

He scratched it off at the traffic lights and realized it was worth $55,555.

The next morning after claiming his prize money at Washington's Lottery Federal Way office, he stop to get a pizza for lunch. While he was waiting for his pie, he went to the Fred Meyer next door and bought three "Bring on Bens" scratch-off tickets.

As luck would have it, the first ticket proved to be a winner, and Collings raked in another $200,000.

Collings has played Washington Lottery since it launched in 2004 but those two tickets were the first time he had ever won a significant amount.

Collings said he plans to use the funds from his first win to pay off debt and has yet to decide what to do with the rest of his winnings, but he did say he plans to return to his job at the Boeing Auburn plant.

In my humble opinion:

Good Luck makes the rounds and comes to everybody at a time of it's own choosing or happenstance.

Everybody goes through periods of Good Luck.

Your Good Luck may manifest itself in winning a jackpot if you are fortunate enough to be holding a lottery ticket when it comes around.

Or if you don't have a lottery ticket in hand, it may prevent you from being run over by a garbage truck.

It's the reason I'm in on every draw no matter the jackpot size cuz I don't know when it's coming my way.

But when it does I'll be there, ticket in hand.

Don't scratch and drive. Not only is it messy, but it could be real messy if you cause an accident and blow all your winnings on lawsuits and medical bills.

I wish I could win just once in a 24 hour period.

If you have an itch to scratch you will scratch anywhere even though its against the Law. His itch won him serious scratch.

Well Said Ridge..

Why are you so hung up on the age of the winners.  Does it really matter if you are 18, 32, 61 or 85?  And when did 61 become elderly???

Congratulations to the double winner that is really awesome!!
