A $96.5 million jackpot-winning Powerball lottery ticket was sold in Missouri for the Saturday drawing of the multi-state game.
The sweet jackpot win of $96.5 million is the sixth-largest prize ever won in Missouri.
Saturday's winning numbers were 13, 28, 31, 55, and 58, with Powerball number 15. The Power Play number was 2.
There also were five Powerball tickets sold matching five numbers, in Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, and Texas. Each ticket is worth $1 million, as none of the second-prize tickets was purchased with the Power Play option.
The player holding the winning jackpot ticket is advised by the Missouri Lottery to sign the back and put it in a safe place until they can take it to the Missouri Lottery Headquarters, located at 1823 Southridge Drive in Jefferson City.
Winners are also encouraged to call the Lottery headquarters at (573) 751-4050.
"When the jackpot winner comes to Jefferson City, we will explain the claim process and other decisions they will need to make," said May Scheve Reardon, executive director of the Missouri Lottery. "We want the winner to take his or her time in getting the proper legal and financial advice before they come to our Jefferson City office. It is also wise to tell as few people as possible at first, so you have uninterrupted time to make important decisions and arrangements."
The Missouri winners have 180 days to claim these prizes, which in this case is Sept. 18, 2014.
The jackpot for the Wednesday Powerball drawing is reset to $40 million.
Powerball is now played in 43 states, plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Tickets cost $2 each.
Powerball lottery results are published within minutes of the drawing at USA Mega (www.usamega.com). The USA Mega Web site provides lottery players in-depth information about the United States's two biggest multi-state lottery games, Mega Millions and Powerball.
Congrats to the lucky winner, enjoy!
I prefer PB than MM, with MM the chances of winning the JP is very slim while the PB you have a better chances of winning. Although, both has only five numbers and the main ball numbers.
The winners, I wonder how long have they been playing before they won the JP?
They will probably say it was the first time they ever bought a lottery ticket.
Nice win for a republican state for once.
This proves that the lottery is fixed!
Missouri always wins!

No thats Iowa you're thinking of.
Congratulation to the winner/s......
Thank God for "pickone4me" complaining that the jackpots are fixed and always won by CA and NY.
The lottery folks have been reading his blogs and they know that he is on to them so they let MO win PB and FL and MD win MM.
Let's see which state they let win this time.
Thank you "pickone4me".
