Last drawing Sunday
By Todd Northrop
Illinois lottery officials, acting on the recommendation of its private manager, Northstar Lottery Group, announced Tuesday they are removing My3 from its draw game portfolio.
The final drawing of My3 will be Sunday, September 14th at 6:30pm.
The game was launched two years ago and was designed to be a simplified alternative to the Pick 3 and Pick 4 games. However, due to its sales performance, the game is being removed from the draw game portfolio.
My3 prizes must be claimed within one year of the drawing date.
Wonderful wonderful news
a simplified game? don't see the diference between my3 and pick 3.
i guess they figured the folks would have to buy their numbers for all 4 draws...didn't work out.
good show..less money to spend for the players.
Good Call
I"m glad the change has come.
It threw salt in the game, and the Fireball, is a hot mess also, because, you have to spend more than $1.00 and you win less money.
Better off, going for the straight, straight/box, or box.
Good Luck Illinois players.
tungsten chef,
The difference was the payouts. My3 paid $200 in exact order.
MzDuffleBagLady,
Agree totally.
The difference is was the player has had 9 different ways to win for one $1 bet. The payoffs are were the same as the average pick-3 game because $1 straight bet pays $500 and My pick-3 players are were wagering $.20 to win $200, $40, or $4.
From the Illinois Lottery website:
How to Win
Winning numbers will be published on www.illinoislottery.com homepage and you can always view the current winning draw from the My3 Drawing tab.
If you choose a My3 with 3 different digits (like 3-2-1), you can win:
Matching Numbers
Prize (on $1 play)
Odds
Match all 3 in exact order $200 1:1,000
Match all 3 in any order (other than exact) $40 1:200
Match any 2 in exact position as the winning numbers $4 1:37
Overall Odds 1:30
If you choose a My3 number with a repeated digit (like 2-2-1 or 2-1-2), the 2nd prize is bigger, because it's harder to win:
Matching Numbers
Prize (on $1 play)
Odds
Match all 3 in exact order $200 1:1,000
Match all 3 in any order (other than exact) $100 1:500
Match any 2 in exact position as the winning numbers $4 1:37
Overall Odds 1:33
my bad...never checked the ways to win, just figured it was the same.
I can see why no one was playing. Why emulate a game you already have when players want something different.
No great loss! Moving right along!
That's to bad.
My My My
That sad news. I wonder what they will replace it with?
hurrah hurrah my3 will be gone. i like the fire ball game tho. i won 1000.00 for . a str with the fireball on pick 4 without the fireball would have got 0. for 50 cents extra on top of a 50cent play not a bad return.
They will probably replace it with something as complicated. Just because.
Hopefully a new, original game that isn't a near clone of Pick3.
Fireball might be a better back-up bet for pick-3 compared to the straight/box bet, but only when you miss by one digit straight. At one time were the Fireball payoffs the same as the regular payoffs?
No, I don't think so, Stack.
One day early on with My3 a couple of clerks where I usually play were explaining to someone who thought he had won $500 wouldn't get paid $500 with a Fireball number.
The Illinois lottery Pick 3 Hoe to Win page shows a $250 payoff for a $1.00 ticket with Plus Fireball where the Fireball makes it a straight hit.

Just another lure-them-in tactic by Northstar.
I'll be glad to see My3 go and would like to see some of these other gimmicks go too.
As my Lottery Pals in Chicago say, so long to my3 and North Star (Good Riddens) and if u only knew how i felt about North Star !!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe they are going to copy Missouri and add Missed by One to the Pick 3.
Just a guess.
"After the initial launch of plus FIREBALL, we received feedback from its players that they wanted a FIREBALL number with each Pick 3 and Pick 4 drawing. We listened to our players and changed the game so that a FIREBALL is ALWAYS drawn."
From that I'm assuming they lowered the prize because the original odds and payoffs were based on some drawings not matching a Fireball number. It looks like the change was made in January 2014. When I tested the game against a 2 if 3 wheel, I had to factor in the drawings with no Fireball number. Had the payoffs remained the same, it would be well worth playing.
I guess we can say the lottery is always a few steps ahead of the players.
People thinking the payoffs would be the same didn't find out the real deal until they hit with the Fireball and went to cash the ticket.
It's kind of like Chicago politics even slips into the lottery.........the lottery headquarters is in Chicago, not Springfield, the state capital.
i'm glad to see it go i contacted them when my 3 first came out if it was cgn or they used the same machine as pick 3 and got a answer that didnt tell me either or good bye...... maybe illinois pick 3 will be back to normal
the game blew. lower payouts and also was computer drawn. they should have just added two more drawings per day using ping pong balls. also i would love to see a keno game added here in IL., not that knock off crappy hit or miss which hopefully will be gone soon.
they should also have the fireball at random and not every drawing not well understoood so it fees like a ripoff
