New Jersey Lottery players now have the opportunity to increase their non-jackpot prizes by up to five times on the long-time favorite game, Pick 6, with the addition of the new Xtra feature.

Players may purchase their Pick 6 tickets with Xtra for an additional $1 per play beginning on Jan. 13 for the Jan. 15 drawing.

Pick 6 Xtra increases the game's base prize amounts by a randomly selected multiplier number during the Pick 6 Xtra draw.  The purchase of Xtra will also enable the player to win $2.00 for matching only two numbers.

The cost of adding Xtra to Pick 6 is $1.00, making the total purchase $2.00 per play.

Pick 6 tickets can continue to be purchased without the Xtra feature for the traditional cost of $1 per play.

Carole Hedinger, New Jersey Lottery Executive Director, said, "Pick 6 Xtra is an exciting new enhancement for the 34-year old game that increases our players' odds of winning.  It's another example of the customer-centric innovations we are bringing to our draw based and instant games this year."

The Xtra multiplier numbers range from 2 up to and including 5. The draw-selected multiplier number determines the number with which the prize amount will be multiplied when the Xtra option is purchased.

If Pick 6 Xtra is chosen any non-jackpot or non-match 2 prize will be multiplied by the multiplier number selected.  The chart below illustrates the estimated prize payouts for purchasing a Pick-6 ticket with Xtra.

Pick 6 Xtra also provides players with an additional prize tier for matching two out of six winning numbers, improving the overall game odds to 1:7 from 1:54.

Average prizes are pari-mutuel and are based on sales and number of winners with the exception of the $3 Pick 6 prize and the $2 Xtra prize, which are fixed prizes.

Pick 6 is drawn every Monday and Thursday at approximately 7:58 p.m. in the New Jersey Lottery Lawrenceville drawing studio.  Pick 6 lottery results are published on Lottery Post's New Jersey Lottery Results page minutes after each drawing.

The choice/addition of a multiplier is always a good thing in any game except for the 2X multiplier, which is actually a rip-off.

Doubt that spending an extra dollar is going to increase my odds of winning the big  jackpot .

Just another tactic to get more $$ for us players. No Thanks NJ lottery.

I don't think they have stated anywhere that the Xtra would provide better odds for the jackpot.  That's not being honest.  They simply said the odds of getting a prize of any kind was much better -- which it IS.

I think someone who wins $10,000 instead of $2,000 is going to be very happy.

Who cares. P6 sales are in the toilet and the whole game needs to be scrapped and or overhauled.

This is not too bad. Normally 2 of 6 pays nothing but if you add the Xtra you stand to win $2. I would add the Xtra.

For $2, You're better off playing Cash4life.

Did you noticed with multiplier a match2 is worth $2 when normally it's worth nothing?  Increasing the odds of winning something to 1:8 is worth the extra $1.  If this improves their ticket sales, I could see other states with similar games doing something similar.  I would like to see something similar in Ohio.

Yep, play $2 multiplier so I can win $2. Sounds like one step forward and one step backward. 2X multiplier should not exist in any lotto type game because to put it mildly, IT SUCKS.

For $1 + $1, I'm better off getting an extra Pick 6 combination/ticket as the odds are better than Cash4Life.

Frankly, I'd like to see NJ add a KENO game, in fact, let ALL the states add a Keno game since the (computer-generated) recently canceled Monopoly game was canceled because players were smart enough not to play it for that & other reasons!
