'Money Man' Tosses Cash Into Fla. Crowd

Sep 16, 2003, 4:16 am

Insider BuzzInsider Buzz: 'Money Man' Tosses Cash Into Fla. Crowd
Hundreds of people at a shopping mall fought over nearly $10,000 launched into a crowd by a real estate investor known as the "Money Man."

Six people were taken to hospitals and six others were treated for cuts and bruises, police spokesman Bill Proffitt said. The most serious injury was a possible broken arm, he said.

Police said at least 500 people crowded the BayWalk courtyard on Saturday for the cash giveaway. Kevin Shelton appeared on a balcony before firing $2 bills out of his "cash cannon," a small silver tube.

Lashawnda Martin, a 14-old high school student, said someone lifted her to safety: "They were trampling all over me."

Shelton, who began doling out money two years ago, said the giveaways are his way to spark generosity. He said he didn't realize anyone had been hurt.

A mall spokeswoman said the dvent was being evaluated to determine if anything should have been done differently.

i don't suppose showing up with a wheelbarow and dressed as a WWE character would increase your chances....would it?

maybe he could thin the herd by using quarters instead of paper money?

       Just a note'

A few of us went to WINNERS  a dress store in  SHARON  PA.

they were giving away 2 and 10. and never mentiond some were

green colored like 1.OO off msd blowing off roof. many got hurt.like a panic, walking over each other/jumping on and off smaller blds/broken ankles/legs/ it was a mess. all and a lot of fake green paper 1.00 bills,I myself was very fearful for my life, and soon found myself    headed toward back of crowd. and thankful I and my friends did not get hurt, and never/never again will I ever venture to any giveaways because people/get crazy/ very dangerous. takeing your life maybe?

so carefull if you do go on anything like that/it's not worth it.

Are you sure they didn't toss George Bush $200 bills into the crowd??

Did anyone hear about that story??

The store clerk gave him back $150 change.

What the heck is going on with this world???

Sounds like those folks response to free money, like people here response to free lottery software.
