Andrew "Jack" Whittaker, who won the $314.9 million Powerball jackpot on Christmas 2002, was arraigned Tuesday on charges of threatening Todd Parsons, the manager of Billy Sundays Bar and Grill in St. Albans. Whittaker, who reportedly was banned from the bar, is accused of trying to hit Parsons and threatening "to have the victim and his family killed," according to police reports. Whittaker did not immediately return a call for comment Wednesday. He was released on $5,000 bond and faces up to six months in jail and a $100 fine if convicted. The 56-year-old contractor received a $113 million lump sum payment from his lottery win and spent $14 million establishing the Jack Whittaker Foundation, a nonprofit organization to help West Virginians find jobs, buy food and pay for education. I guess the money has really gone to his head. He really did not need the money in the first place.

Reminds of the 70's and 80's whenever someone did something crazy and was described as a Viet Nam vet as if being in a war had made them crazy. Now days it's winning the lottery or wanting to win that's making people crazy. I wonder if Jack is a veteran? RJOh * that which happens most * * is most likely to happen again *

It isn't a crime to threaten to kill someone, so did he actually try and hire people? I only think we are not allowed to threaten the president in the U.S. Everyone else is fair game, could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Actually, threatening to kill someone would be considered assault. Threatening the President is a federal offense. That's a little more serious. P.S. "Big Brother" is probably going to come kicking down our door when certain words (like the ones we used) go floating in cyberspace. If you dissappear first, Bug, save me a seat in the "Little Room". Okay, now I believe you can predict lottery numbers

I agree on the Pres. deal, but disagree on the individual assault charge. It could very from state to state, but I doubt it as it most likely have to be a federal offense, since our constitution guarantees freedom of speech.

After that trouble at the Pink Pony last year, you would have thought that there would be no more.

he could hire robert blake. mr blake has experience in this arena and is out on bail. probably needs the cash for his upcoming trial on murder solicitation. he probably advertizes in soldier of fortune magazine under an alias. hollyweird has been known to tweak peoples version of reality. VISION

Ah, another week, another Jack Whittakre story. The hits just keep on coming. Where do I sign up for the Jack Whittakre foundation? (Just put the check in the mail!) Even his own church turned down his donations. Yeah, too much money must make people do weird things. I think the name of the other guy who won a lot on a TV game show in the mid 80's and turned looney was Michael Pearson. he was a nut case who took all of his winnings, cashed it into $1 bills and tryed to win radio call in games matching serial numbers on dollar bills. But what was really crazy is that he had all of this money stashed in trash bags laying around his house. Sure enough, burglars broke in and took a lot of it. How he won the money in the first place is another story.

J.W. is a constant reminder to me that there is no way that anything other than dumb luck picks who wins the lottery... Playing more than one ticket per game is betting against yourself.

lets see we have had
- a woman who lied about winning the lottery
- a guy who won the lottery and gets drugged in strip clubs and goes to bars where he is banned and threatens people
- we had a guy sentenced to jail for using his lottery winnings to sell drugs (not sure what state)
- we have a guy suing the lottery commision cause he thinks he had bought the winning ticket and cant find it.
- had a couple who had to look for their winning lottery ticket in the garbage when they accidentally threw it out.
- had a guy accidentally buy the same winning ticket twice....
- had a lady run off with 2 co-workers winning $175K ticket after they knew they had won, and know claims she lost it.
can you think of anymore good ones..... "Everybody has to believe in something...I believe I'll have another beer!" = W.C.Fields
