$85.5 Million Powerball Jackpot Won in New Hampshire

PowerballPowerball: $85.5 Million Powerball Jackpot Won in New Hampshire

America's Game paid off big Wednesday night for one winning ticket sold in New Hampshire. That ticket is worth $85.5 million.

The winner will have to decide if they want 29-year annuity or the cash option worth $46.5 million. The ticket holder will have 60 days after the ticket is validated to make that decision.

This is the second jackpot win in the state of New Hampshire in the last 5 months. A $135.6 million dollar jackpot was won in the Granite State on August 30, 2003. Wednesday's jackpot is the 8th Powerball jackpot won in New Hampshire since the game began in 1992.

In addition to the jackpot winner, 508,185 other Powerball players across the nation won a total of $4,365,540 million in prizes Wednesday night.

The numbers drawn were: 7, 12, 17, 25, 32 and the Powerball was 33. The Power Play multiplier was 2.

Eleven players correctly matched the 5 white numbers and won $100,000. The tickets were sold in the District of Columbia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Pennsylvania (3), South Carolina, Vermont, and Wisconsin. The winning players from Kansas and Vermont purchased the Power Play option. By spending the extra dollar those players multiplied their prize by 2 for a total win of $200,000.

Forty-two players matched 4 white numbers plus the Powerball and won $5,000. Five of those players purchased the Power Play option, giving them a total win of $10,000.

More than 58,000 winning Powerball players multiplied their prize by 2 Wednesday. They were able to do that by purchasing the Power Play option for one dollar. With Power Play you can multiply your winnings, except for the jackpot. At the beginning of each drawing a wheel is spun to select that night's multiplier.

Players purchased more than 17.7 million tickets between Sunday and Wednesday night.

The jackpot for the Saturday, February 7 drawing will be $10 million with a cash option of $5.4 million.

The lotteries sold more than $2 billion in Powerball tickets in 2003. That translates into more than $600 million for worthwhile state projects.
