The Pennsylvania Lottery will announce a new program this morning in Harrisburg designed to enforce age limits on lottery ticket sales.

Lottery ticket ID checks will be added to those checks already in place at Pennsylvania stores to verify IDs on people buying beer and cigarettes.  A special machine reads the magnetic strip on the back of a driver's license.

The owner of Old Forge Beverage in Lackawanna County thinks adding checks for lottery tickets is a good idea. "It's going to enhance it, actually," said Glen Bynon. "The people are going to know that they can trust individual ownership that their kids aren't going to buy stuff that's illegal."

Bynon is not sure how the Lottery's new system will work, but he believes it will be similar to the one he already uses to check IDs for beer and cigarettes.
