Ex-husband of big Mass. lottery winner is happy for his family

Mega MillionsMega Millions: Ex-husband of big Mass. lottery winner is happy for his family

They were married for 20 years -- but now they've been divorced for 25.

So, James Williams isn't expecting his ex-wife to offer him a share of her lottery winnings.

Geraldine Williams yesterday claimed her Mega Millions jackpot in Massachusetts -- in a lump-sum of about $118 million million dollars, after taxes.

Her ex-husband is taking the high road -- saying he's glad his children and grandchildren will be taken care of.

The retired police officer says he hasn't spoke with his ex-wife about her winnings -- but he tells the Boston Herald he thinks she'll make the right decisions. He says, "I wish them all well."

I hope he sticks to that statement.

If so, he's definitely a stand up guy. I think most people would have already been lawyered up by now.

For some reason, it seems like he might find a way to get a piece of the pie....

What a damn fool...he should have hung in there with her!  I bet he is beating himself over-and-over-and-over again.  Since he is divorced, he cannot receive anything, anyway.  Look at the time frame.  I see why he probably flunked math in school.

        D,

I'm surprised at your comments. Are you suggesting that he should have remained unhappily married for 25 additional years just so he could get part of this money. Even if I knew of sure that my spouse would win the lottery 10 years from now, I would not stay married if the marriage was at the point where we needed to divorce. There is nothing that drains the life out of a person more than a bad marriage. And there is nothing more valuable than peace of mind. Even winning a billion dollars will not give you that.

Well look at it this way any financial responsibility will all be hers now and she can afford it too!
