PowerballPowerball: N.D. Powerball lottery winner claims $100,000 prize

After more than two weeks, the winner of $100,000 from the July 3 Powerball drawing has come forward in North Dakota.

Lottery officials knew the winning ticket was sold at Simonson's in Minot, but that was all -- until an Aberdeen, S.D. resident walked into the lottery office in Bismarck Wednesday.

The winner, who works in Minot, had been on vacation. The winning ticket was purchased for multiple draws on June 28, and had been sitting on his desk until Saturday night, when he checked the numbers and all but the Powerball matched.

The man wished to remain anonymous to the public, North Dakota Lottery spokeswoman Eileen Walsh said.

The Powerball jackpot for last night's drawing was estimated at $27 million, and the Hot Lotto jackpot was at a record high of $6.9 million.
