Kansas Lottery: Kansas lottery player keeps winningLouis Guebara has good luck. In the year 2000, the Topeka resident won two big Kansas Cash jackpots. He won an $181,000 jackpot in May and a $130,002 jackpot in November. Now, he can add the title of $20,003 2by2 winner to his list of winnings.
"People ask me 'why I am so lucky?' and I just tell them that Im lucky because I keep on playing," Guebara said.
Guebara, 78, is retired from Santa Fe, which is now Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. Guebara worked for the railroad for 42 years. He and his wife, Espernza, have been married for 60 years.
According to Guebara, he plays 2by2 on a regular basis.
He won the $20,000 top prize by matching all four numbers in the Aug. 19, 2004 drawing. He also matched one number each on three other games on the same ticket to bring his total winnings to $20,003.
"Although I've won the Lottery before, I couldn't believe it when I saw that I won again," Guebara said. "When the lady at the store checked my ticket and told me that I had won, I thought that she was joking with me. It took awhile for it all to sink in."
According to Guebara, winning the Lottery helped him do a lot of things.
"I was able to do a lot of things with my winnings," Guebara said. "I bought a new Oldsmobile and I also gave some money to my niece."
Although Guebara has already won two big jackpots, he enjoys playing lottery games, in hopes of winning again.
"I still want to win the Powerball someday, that is my next big goal," Guebara said.
When Guebara claimed his prize at Lottery headquarters, he still had not told his wife the big news.
"I cant wait to get home and tell my wife about what I won," Guebara said.
Guebara purchased his ticket at Oak Mart, 2518 N.E. Seward, in Topeka.
