I'm not sure what type of jackpot game you play (I'm assuming it's at least pick 5 since you have a set of numbers), but let me ask you something...if you played pick 5, would you stop playing your same set of numbers if you manage to pull a 4 out of 5 hit one day? Or will you still continue to play that combination again even though 4 out of 5 of the numbers recently hit? I would personally scratch that combination off my list.

lol i played the same 3 numbers 14 times , for $6. didnt get 1 of the 3 numbers at all, and hardly got anything else. i let machines pick the extra numbers and used the 3 as bankers. o well

I used to play show me 5 in MO back when there were only 30 numbers. I made a chart, and managed to hit 4 out of 5 on 6 occasions. The night I had 5 of 5, DH wouldn't let me go play, so I threw all the charts and numbers in the trash, and walked away from it. I decided to start tracking and playing again. What was amazing is how mnay repeat customers he had.

Florida State Lottery made a mistake on there most recent game Tropical Riches. They posted not only the usual information, # of top prizes and odd, but also how many tickets were printed. So I tried to calculate the number of winning tickets per prize and over all number of winning tickets (using a formula provided in one of your forums). My math seems to work, except for the top prizes. They say their are 10 top prizes I calculate 5. Can anyone help me on this

i too like to collect: Math texbooks specially older editions not used by professors anymore...I like to purchase Statistics Probabilities texbooks of older editions they cost like less than $20 many cost less than: $5...I also collect other math, medicine, science textbooks...I like to also use the statistic and probabilities textbooks and apply them to the lotto and to learn something new...

I always keep the mid and eve drawing together as a single game here in Ohio. A long time ago, I performed some empirical testing on sequenced draws. I tested the draw histories of several state's pick 3 lotteries, measuring different probabilities along the way. What I found is that the flow of randomness most closely follows the laws of probability when the midday and evening draw results are combined together as a continuous sequential draw history.

Do people play the odds or the odds to payout ratio?

In GA, the odds to payout ratio is about 2 to 1 for Cash 3 and 4.

1000: 1 odds pays $500. Three way is a third of that and 6 way is 1/6th of that.

The same with Cash 4. 10,000:1 odds pays $5000.

Fantasy 5 has 575,757:1 but starts at 50,000.

The odds are 57 times the cash 4 with the payout being 5 times.

But as it rolls over, the odds catch up.

Strings of 20 or more picks doesn't really tell us much unless we are planning on playing the entire string. With larger strings even if the winning number is within the string, it's difficult to find any consistency without knowing how they derived at that combination.

Seriously , It could be a 50/50 draw and I can bet my paycheck each time that I'd lose! That is the only bet I can win and lose all in one shot!

After awhile I become immune to the *odds* and play simply because its a hoot to try systems and patterns. Someday that ship will come in , until then the *odds* are in the gamers favor to play or not to play.

Lack of transparency is the one big factor which leads players to think their lottory is fixed. All such talk of being fixed would disappear or drop to a whisaper if the drawings were held openly. Unfortunately in Tennessee, this is not the case.

When a state begins a lottery, initual start-up costs are probably subsidized by state funds. Once the games are rolling, winnings come from the ticket sales. I'm not exactly sure but I believe lottery retailers keep a monthly debit and at the end of each month send a check to the state lottery if sales are more than payoffs or get a credit when payoffs exceed sales.

If you want to avoid gift tax implications you have to give them a share of the ticket before it becomes a winning ticket.
