This is the problem with NY State government. (sigh) They get side tracked with things like this, instead of the actual 'work' of the state, like a state budget. The state still has not passed a balanced budget this year and will RUN OUT OF MONEY in December and be going the way of California with IOU's soon.

Glad to see Iowa getting Mega Millions next year just like Tennessee. Our two states are similar in other ways too. For instance, it doesn't matter if you live in Iowa or Tennessee, you still have to drive to Chicago to get a decent pizza. I don't know about Iowa but Tennessee makes everything out of cornbread (cornbread is a mixture of sand and kitty litter) and it just doesn't work too well for pizza. I hate it.

An apologetic Koprnicky told the Sun last week he had made a mistake and assumed something, it just wasn't there.

May if Koprnicky did some jail time, he might learn the seriousness of making a formal claim to the lottery commission that he as part of a group had an agreement to share the lottery winnings of someone who had never heard of him. He probably thought by including the group, members of the groups would back his scam for a share of the winnings even if it included lying in court.

Our state puts all kinds of 'control' numbers on the tickets to indicate: Store number, valid date(s), total tickets sold that day, roll of paper the ticket came from, and a few more I haven't figured out yet -- all of which can be cross-referenced, of course. The story says age 56; I'd like to know how people get that old being that dumb.

God has truly blessed them at their time of need. i have a cousin whose 1st floor of house is greatly damaged from floods in atlanta. they have had volunteer churchs from other states help with removing drywall at no charge. without flood insurance those coust are all their to absorb.

Here is an interesting follow up to this story.

This guy had to appear in court 3 days after collecting the money for a sex crime charge and tried to get a public defender because he didn't have the money to afford an attorney. It turns out the court knew he had won the money and made him supply his own attorney.

When this happens you won't have a chance to stick to Super Lotto Plus - it is agonizing from the day MM launched in California and I'm pretty sure in the future it will be replaced with PowerBall - played the same days with larger jackpots. The odds in ANY jackpot lottery including scratchers are astronomical so they don't really matter. I have Definitelyheard clerks tell their favorite customers which roll is a winning roll and which one is not. And they have their friends sitting around in the store scratching away. Once, when this particular clerk was in, I watched and listened as I ate my sandwich. Then I got in line and the next two tcikets I bought were nice winners! It is all a racket, I think. You'd only multiply the odds if you wanted to know the odds of a specific number being drawn twice in a row. When the first drawing happens it's going to result in some number being drawn. The chance of that number being drawn again in the following drawing is then 1 in 5 million (or whatever the odds for the game are; this one is somewhere around 1 in 14 million).

im interested how a trust fund for the kids , gets raided by her boyfreind? surely thats why you set up trust funds. so only the lawyer guy running it gets to raid it.

A fact I also don't understand. The lottery was a big battle in the state of Arkansas wasn't it? And like usual the democrats would vote for it while the republicans would vote against it. I am sure this happened here as well. Why would you want people on the board in charge of raising money that were totally against the cause in the first place. That doesn't make sense to me at all.

My brother is like that. If it's under 100mil he doesn't play (although I have seen him play Mega as low as 50mil). He say's if he's going to be lucky enough to win, he doesn't want to waste it on a small jackpot.

He won't play multi draws either. When powerball was big a couple of weeks ago, he drove to LA to play for each of the last four or five large-dollar draws (2 hrs one way). I just bought tickets for as many advance draws as I could - and only had to go over the border once.

I worked with a woman about 10 years ago whos husband was a district manager for Shell gas stations and he had designed a scratcher named Winter Wonderland for the Hoosier Lottery. She had a large (about 18 x 12 ) cardboard cutout of the ticket in her office. It was the first scratcher I ever played. I lost and havent improved much since.

It will be very stupid for anyone to just use their unemployment check to buy a lottrey ticket that they know they are going to lose. Keep the snip money given to you by the goverment for better use. Everyone going around saying if don't buy a ticket you are not part of the winners so why buy the ticket and loose ? why don't you save your buck to be a winner ?

Like the minum jackpot of 12M is chump change now ...matters to me not the size of jackpot. I used to feel like awww hell this is never going to happen after the super size jackpot is reset and just forget about it. A federal appeals court today blocked Delaware's bid to open sports betting Sept 1.

A three-judge panel of the Third Circuit Court of Appeals decided that Delaware's plans violate a 1992 federal ban on sports gambling.

That's one of many reasons not to go running to the lottery office right away. If I win a jackpot the phone number I have now will have been turned off long before I make it to the lottery office. I also won't be living in the place they'll be telling the news media I live in.
