333 batting average 3 at bats gets a hit. So if he is 0 for 2 he is probably going to get a hit at the next at bat.

Things just aren't that consistent.

What more likely happens is the .333 hitter goes 0 for 8 in two games and then 6 for 10 in the next two games. Over the long run he's hitting .333, but it definiyly doesn't happen every game.

Assuming a .333 hitter that is 0 for 2 will get a hit the next time up is about the same as standing at a dice table and waiting for 35... [ More ]

That reminds me of the systems that add or subtract something from the previous drawing; add 1 to the first digit, subtract 3 from the second, and add 7 to the third. These systems usually come from reverse engineering when someone notices that by adding or subtracting something there would be 3 straight hits and maybe some boxed hits over a drawing period of say 200 drawings.

only an idea dealing with pairs or we may called template 32 combos back pairs, as we know in pick 3 game we have front pair (12x), split pair(1x3), back pair (x23) and some lotteries don't have @ week (7 draws) but we can use this to track pairs group that hit at least one time per 7 draws

m - average rate of reoccurrence

Here is a quick update on this particular method.

The up/down percentages for each column are game specific. I look at the percentages for each column for each number over a year period of draws to see what the general trend is. I then do the same for the last 60 draws to get a local percentage for each column.

The percentages near the middle (fours and fives) are not as cut and dried but there is an advantage to having mid type numbers show up.

If you had a database program such as MS Access, you could create a table named tblRnd1 with a single field named Num of data type number (though data type of text works too). Then populate your table with the five digits.

Actually, I do drop in here fairly often. I just don't comment all that often, since most of the stuff I find is only tangentially about math. I don't do any complicated math in Excel, so at least 50% of what I see is irrelevant right off the bat.

For anyone that has been watching this post, and is interested, below are the working formulas. If anyone decides to use them, feel free. I had to range my histories table so that the range included the labels as seen in the formulas. The sheet displayed above is a separate sheet than the histories sheet. To convert from Lotus123 to Excel, change the @ symbol to = and it should work.

In a 6/42 lottery, the odds of matching:

The above are just examples, it depends on

So you can see that any group that cointains all the possible pairs of A ie Aa Ab Ac Ad Ae Af Ag Ah Ai Aj would not be a sufficient answer because of the rule that you are combining one from set one and one from set 2 with B?, C?, D?, E? remaining.

In other words, you need a least combination from set 1 to set 2 which in this case is 2:1

I use this in my filters, however, I use the previous number i.e. 475 - and I say 4 = verticle 1 (v1), 7 is = verticle 2 (v2), and 5 is verticle 3(v3) representing the 1st position, 2nd position, and the 3rd position. Then I guess if the next draw (in the first position) is going to be greater than 4 (which you are using H or L) I use + or - also (greater than) or ( less than) but you also need to use (= equal to) (in case it is the same number as the time before. The number 3 can only be drawn 30 time in 30 drawings even though it has 5 chances of being drawn in each drawing. If it was drawn first in 3 of the 6 times it was drawn, there would be no chance of it being drawn in the other 4 chances because there is only one number 3. In pick-3 and pick-4 games where there are multiple number 3s, it could be drawn more than 30 times in 30 drawings.

No problem, when I first started using a computer, Excel didn't do what I wanted, so since Lotus was pre-loaded, that's all I've ever used. I understand that different things in Excel and Lotus123 can be crossed over and still work. I've even used some examples that I've found for Excel in Lotus. I've just never thought of switching over...so if some of my questions seem odd, no you'll understand why.

I use an older version of Lotus123. It works great. I just need to figure out how to write formulas better. The program is loaded with lots of help, I really need to have a better understanding of everything it can do. I've written some macros and recorded some very simple scripts, but now I want to go further and create scripts. That's where I get lost quick. I have found several PDF files on line, downloaded, and read thru them.

There's one I'm really interested in that describes checking to see if a lottery draw is actually random . No results were included, but they said that the formulas checked out correctly. Using the program Maybells QuikWheel, I picked pick4 game format and enter 1 and 2 and it prints out:

1: 1111

2: 1112

3: 1121

4: 1122

5: 1211

6: 1212

7: 1221

8: 1222

9: 2111

10: 2112

11: 2121

12: 2122

13: 2211

14: 2212

15: 2221

16: 2222

There was the time that Camelot said there are 30,000 people have selected 01,02,03,04,05,06 and have kept them for the long period of time but they still guaranteed the 10 before the draw, that just shows how confident they were!

1- How about first proving the Null Hypothesis: that they are not fixed? Can you sooner prove (mathematically) that they are not fixed? If you cannot, then you have proven that they are indeed fixed .

2- I can give you a non-mathematical way: find an ethical way to examine the software packages of states who purchase these. I believe you would probably discover that states with computerized lotteries use super computers to run software that can run a set of pre-determined combinations

Hi I am trying to create a function that will compare one list of elements against another list of elements and find the smallest number of enters from the first list that will contain all the elements in the second list.

e.g. lets say I have 8 items constructed in to blocks of 6 items this will give me an array containing 6 elements x 28 rows

Array1(28,6)

1) - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

2) - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7

The colon thing is good to know. the if statement is just too easy. as rigid as other statement are I would not have tried this.

its these little things that people leave out or don't mention when trying to show how to do something. I've looked at several web sites trying to figure things out for myself, no mention of this.

That's possible. It's a 4.5Mb file and takes a while to download. When I first uploaded it I was on a dialup internet connection and it took what seemed like forever to upload.

As i wrote most of my books regarding lotteries are from the past 20 years, except for Michel Tritten (was only available in french at time, and out of stock since few years because the decease of the author). I am sure that if you make a good search following the normal tools search on the net you should find something that will suit you following what you are building.

Nearly every serious lottery player that look at trends have considered hot/cold numbers trends at one time. I have and the first thing I did was define such numbers.

I took the average and median lengths of time a number appeared in all past drawings and compared the number of times that number had hit in its most recent period of the same amount of time. If it had hit one time then it was normal and if it has hit more than once then it was hot and if it hasn't hit at all it was cold. I did
