That doesn't sound right at all.

In Florida, the clerk scans the ticket then types in the number and a screen facing the customer says how much was won.

There's nothing you can do about it now, so let it go.

My wife buys me about $20 worth of scratchers for Christmas each year. Last year I had over $50 in winners. So...... I decide to start playing them. Not so good. LOL.

Funny thing is she doesn't do any research. She just buys them. I check the Tx Lottery site, see which ones have better odds, prizes left, etc. So I end up just playing online games.

Most state lottery websites list their scratch-offs, the number of tickets in value amounts, and the overall chances of winning something.

The only successful system I tried was putting my shoes on the wrong foot and walking backward into the store.

I also live in Va and buy TN lottery tickets. Have not had any good results in TN. I've purchased $5 $20 with no luck at all.

Sometimes I wander where all of the winning tickets are distributed. Does anyone know if there is a specific plan for distributing scratch

off lottery to the stores? What areas get the winning tickets, or do you beleive they are distributed fairly?

Hi,

One thing that can be helpfull when buying scratch-offs is go to your states lottery website and look under games. go to where the tickets are located click on the tickets that you like to play or look at the list if you click, on each ind one it should tell you the odds. for example 1:4:3 so really what that means is 1 in ea 4 tickets is a winner, might not be the big one could just be another ticket. the lower the odds the better. Something to think about.

I've noticed there seem to be a lot more winners coming from the new ITVM's the lottery has installed than from the traditional scratch-off dispensers. My own luck has improved since I started buying all my tickets from them.

I went to this site and found the game '10 X The Money for Indiana. Went to the store to purchase ti along with other scratchers and found out this game hasnt even been offered for a few months. Indiana closed the game, yet this site shows its the second best $2 pick for Indiana

I really couldn't spend more than $10 (if I really feel lucky) on an instant ticket. Any more and it's just foolish. I remember when TX introduced a $50 instant ticket. I'm going to say the same thing I said when that was introduced. What if you lose. You're really going to beat yourself up over losing that much money. Now I'm not against someone going out and paying a ton on one instant ticket. If it's your money, it's your call. Just think about all sides of the equation.

I've seen it happen all the time where they start selling a game in PA before the advertised on-sale date. It's really nothing out of the ordinary. They really should wait to announce any big winners though.

There is a store about 10 minutes from where I live that when they cash in a $50 or greater winner, they keep it and add it to a huge pile. It's visible, anyone can look at them.

I'm hoping to borrow that pile long enough to discern where winners are most likely to fall on any given roll. Maybe tomorrow if I get a chance, but certainly before the weekend out.

Yes, I heard the same thing about the white stripe ticket. I have looked and purchase those tickets and yes, SOMETIMES it is a winner. Nothing really big, however, it was a winner. Like the win was for another ticket or from two to ten dollars. It would be wonderful to get one for big money. Has not happened for me. There is another validation code under the play area where you scratch the ticket which must be entered also...you have to scratch off the ticket to get that second code. If you ever see a ticket that is partially scratched, don't buy it.

Interesting. I was talking with a friend this morning about distribution of prizes. We were thinking about the software that computes how the tickets are distributed and what cities the prizes go to. Of course it could be set up in any manner, but like you say, the prizes have to be spaced out. Any inisghts on their program? How much human involvement there is?

Well i went yesterday and tried out the buy one at a time, scratch it, see the results and then play accordingly. Worked out pretty well, came out 45 ahead for the morning. Not too shabby. The machine i get my tickets from was out of the new 5 dollar bingo scratchers i wanted to play. I bought one of the 25 scratchers and earned my money back on it, then stupidly bought another. As a lottery player and huge scratch off ticket fan living in Brooklyn, I have long questioned the ethics of NYS lottery officials. I buy the $10 tickets and have NEVER won more $1000 on one ticket. When I think about all of the tickets I've purchased over the years - and given the systems odds, well....

I don't know much about vending machines. I'm not sure who stocks them. (I assume the retailer) Maybe the store didn't validate the book of tickets before stocking the machine? I like having the branded games myself (despite some of them not having the best of odds here in GA). We recently got Deal or No Deal in the form of a sit win game (sadly, none are available in my area...). We have 3 different Monopoly games. We once had Betty Boop. We have a Harley Davidson game.

that's 900.00 (I was told he does at least that a week across the border in SC) ....

I watched him scratch the first 60 tickets (first two rolls)

green 10.00 ticket? Haven't seen that one in a while I believe...however the Shell station about 1/2 mile further on the left does. He keeps pretty much all active games there..huge display of scratch offs..however, I don't like the places that sell the rolls from back to front (i.e. 029-000 instead of 000-029) and he does..also don't usually win there..and he also buys tickets...so it is what it is...

I hit on the white line 3 out of every 5 times.. half of those times BOTH tickets are winners..HOWEVER, I have noticed that they are usually small amounts on the highlighted lines...the large amount winner on the tickets I've inspected hanging up at various gas stations do NOT have the highlighted line....so it truly is a crap shoot...however when I see the highlighted line I usually pick it up..this is especially true on the 5.00 and 10.00 tickets.... Some scratching fanatics like myself hate the Spoiler letters found on tickets. So, like others I know we scratch only the letters under the numbers. Unless you examine the ticket it will appear as though as the ticket hasn't even been scratched. To me, it puts the fun back into playing without worrying about seeing the dreaded X spoiler letter. (Unless you win $6, X usually means you have a loser)

I've decided I'm going to choose the new $2 game, $100 Winner is has 10,000 $100 winners. I think I'm just going to stick with my normal 1 ticket has each spot and wait and scratch all of them at my neighborhood lottery place when i get back home. I don't want to turn 3.5 hour trip to the beach into a 5 hour trip. Maybe I should just do this on the way back.

a guy who goes to my local candy store spent $3000 on several rolls -- he won $900 back in all. i know another person who bought a roll of ny's win for life's -- they, too, didn't come close to getting the money back.

For whatever reason, the SCEL website has been down basically for the past 2 more weeks, I did catch it up and running for a little time sometime last week and got to sneak peak into there lotteryClub section which previews upcoming games. That's what they should have all along. They used to have these one dollar pulltabs at bars and bowling allies where the top prizes ranged between 100 and 300 dollars. Just recently (by recently, I mean about a week ago), they changed them to prizes of 1000, meaning chances are you are not going to get the top prize.

But for this particular scratchoffs that promises 100 million dollars to 1 winner, why not create it like Powerball with a second prize paying 200,000 dollars...That way you can create a 100 million dollars with 20 million dollars for the second prize which is equal to 100 second prizes all going to the countries that do not have the winning ticket...And if they rotate suppose is a 3 countries, then 1 country gets the winning ticket, the other country gets 50 second prizes and the other country
