Destined, not sure if this reply was intended to me or not, but if it was, reset assured that not all my winning will be spent outside the US. My goal would be to become wealthy with the winnings instead of just rich, part of my drive or whatever would probably be an imaginary competition with other big lotto winners who won similar or bigger jackpots. Yes, that that's probably a little egocentric but, oh well. I wouldn't go around gloating about it, since I still would have enough sense to try and keep the number of people around me who actually knows where a big portion of my money comes from at a minimum.

First of all, normal charities are off the list; e.g. churches, red cross, etc. I would prefer my charities be a dog clinic or resuce center of some kind. Dogs always give, and ask nothing in return; except food and water. People immediately turn greedy, especially when they don't get what they consider enough. I marked that I would donate to school. While I understand that US schools are in a tough shape, I feel that I would share with a school or two in the Philippines. I know of several schools that are in dire need there for supplies and other items that would lead to a better education for the kids there. I would likely choose a school in the area that my wife is from and sponsor the entire school for a year.

I live in Alabama so there's no chance of me ever winning it but I do play the florida state lottery. I would love to offer to send my parents to a luxurious rehab as they are both pill heads and alcoholics. It would be nice to be able to turn somebody's life around.

I have it all mapped out, as any good finance exec would do. That would be funny, specially when they've gone completely and totally broke with no way to even pay the left over taxes on it. I had a teacher tell me that and one time I just took a stick of gum and tore it into a bunch of tiny pieces to share . They didn't say I had to give everyone the same amount, but I'm sure they would have wanted more... But no one seemed to want it..... I was kicked out of class that day for being a smart ass...

There's a very simple reason why I wouldn't share the wealth (except for when it's to help reduce my tax burden) and that's because typically the more you give away the more everyone will want. I would only share with family and close friends. However, it wouldn't all be in the form of outright handouts. If I won the lottery, I'd want to start my own business. I have a close friend who was also my IT instructor at a vocational school I went too. I will share with him in the form of appointing him as President of my company.

So far I am the only one to say I would give any to church on the poll...I do believe in sharing, but not in the way many people would. Openly sharing any jackpot win would likely lead to problems. Plus, from what I know about government expeditures, no amount of millions can solve any of the worlds problems (i.e. you'll go broke trying). Of course, the government will take their share of my winnings, that's my definition of sharing with others. Other than that probably not. I'll give if they ask and as i have said on a previous post i will NOT tell anyone of my winnings, so if they do ask it will probably be a miniscule amount compared to what i will have.

If the jackpot is $50m or more, I'd give lump sums to my kids, sisters, and parents, regardless of gift taxes if I can't avoid them. After that, I'd give at least 10% of the annual earnings off what I invest to charity. Half of that would go to America's Harvest which is a national food bank. The other half would be discretionary depending on what 403c charity is in need or if a local organization is in need.

I've posted this before on another thread.I'd buy a motorhome with a garage on it travel.I'd use the garage to carry emergency supplies.When I hear of a natural disaster,like the tornado last night in Atlanta,that was near wherever I might be,I would drive to the disaster area and hand out the supplys to those that need it.Afterwards,I'd load up some more supplys and be ready for the next disaster that occurs near my travels.This way I could see the country and help people at the same time.
