Three numbers are providing a hobby for lottery players and a big win for the North Carolina state lottery.
The lottery's Pick 3 game, in which players buy chances at matching a three-digit number, offers the lowest payouts of any of the lottery's drawing games. The maximum win is $500. Lottery players around the United States hoping to win big by betting on all nines may have come up empty when they got to the lottery terminal.

Maryland Lottery's Green Ball promotion adds bonus drawings
The Maryland Lottery's Green Ball Double Draw promotion was triggered three times this past weekend, paying out hundreds of thousands of dollars in extra prize money to players of the Pick 3 game.

The Thursday Pick 4 midday drawing results of 1-0-2-0 paid out more than $1.5 million in prizes, according to the Maryland Lottery.

N.C. Pick 4 lottery game starts next week
A new four-digit daily numbers game for the North Carolina Education Lottery will begin next week.
Top prize for the Carolina Pick 4 game starting April 17 will be $5,000. Players can either choose a number or have a sales terminal pick a random number.

Neb. lottery numbers drawn twice in row
The odds are against something this odd.
A Nebraska Lottery official says the winning numbers for the state's Pick 3 lottery on Tuesday were exactly the same as the winning combination from the night before.
