Florida finally had a PB winner
There are also a lot of people that drive to Florida to buy tickets--Georgia, Alabama and Missisippi are non PB states . I would venture a guess of thousands of tickets are sold to non residents when the JP is really high.

Curious Minds Want to Know
Once My Husband and I went to Huntsville Alabama to a FuneraL And We were going to go play the lottery but we had to travel about 15 mi. Because they don't have the lottery in Huntsville. We had to go to across the bridge to Tennesee So It took us about 15 to 20 mi. before we could play our numbers. 15, to 20 mins.

What do you prefer
i chose scratch offs but also Georgia's Win For Life comes to mind. $1000 a week for life. sounds good right? well i'm an alabama resident. GA and AL both have state taxes. After federal, GA and AL taxes i might as well have not played at all. If i'm going to gamble it's going to be for something big!

Please post your facts and figures. I am sure everyone would like to see. I live very close to the TN/AL statelines. What I see is half of northern Alabama there playing as well as TN players. How do you know that TN doesn't have as many players as KY?

Why doesn't Utah have a lottery...
North Dakota DOES have a lottery - not much of one, though.
Utah is way too Mormon - besides, the jack Mormons (Mormons who drink, gamble, etc.) can always go to Idaho to get Powerbal tickets if they want to.
Nevada has tried a bunch of times to geta lottery and the casino interests shoot it down every time.
Alabama will get one eventually. Mississipi too probably.

Why doesn't Utah have a lottery...
I moved to Mobile, AL about 4 years ago and I can tell you Alabama is an odd state. People here are so hypocritical. For example... The relgious southern baptists show their hate for the lottery; however, run to Tunica to play the slot machines twice a year... Gov Riley says gambling will not come to Alabama while he's in office... I'm sorry gov but gambling is here! You have 3 casinos in this state. Two in your Back yard there in Montgomery. That's not including all the dog tracks and bingo hal ...

I doubt they will either. We still don't have alcohol sales on Sunday!! But people who want to play lotto do it and take their $$$ to either Florida, Georgia or Tennesse. but you know what? If you win the lottery you have to pay Alabama state taxes on your winnings as it is earned income. Isn't that some BS???
