Lottery jackpot hunters will have a big target this Friday night, when a $220 million jackpot is up from grabs in the multi-state Mega Millions lottery game.
It is the largest Mega Millions jackpot since Feb. 22, 2008, when the top prize swelled to $270 million. One ticket sold in Georgia won that prize.

Man claims he's owed Mega Millions in suit against Illinois Lottery
An East St. Louis man says the Illinois Lottery Control Board refused to pay him for a winning lottery ticket.
Johnnie Cooper filed suit April 14 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Illinois Lottery Control Board.
Cooper says he purchased a lottery ticket on Aug. 28, 2007.
The ticket contained the winning numbers, but the Illinois Lottery Control Board refused to pay Cooper for it, he says.
Cooper does not state how much money he should have received.

N.Y. looks to join Powerball lottery
The New York Lottery is seeking to enter the 32 jurisdictions currently selling the Powerball lottery as a way to increase state revenue and stop jackpot seekers from heading to other states to play.
The New York Lottery is expected to get the go-ahead to enter Powerball through a provision in the 2009-10 state budget that allows the state to enter more than one multi-jurisdictional lottery. New York participates in the 12-state Mega Millions lottery.

Colorado Lottery reviewing partnership with Mega Millions
The Colorado Lottery, along with other members of the Multi State Lottery Association (MUSL), is reviewing the option of selling tickets for the multi-state Mega Millions lottery game.
Started in 1996 as the Big Game, Mega Millions has a starting jackpot of $12 million and other prizes ranging from $2 to $250,000. The game would supplement, rather than replace Powerball (operated through MUSL), the mega jackpot game currently offered in Colorado.

Washington Senate passes Powerball bill
The Washington state Senate has passed a bill that would let the state join the multi-state Powerball lottery game.
The bill passed on a 35-12 vote Tuesday and now goes to the House for consideration.
Washington state already participates in the Mega Millions multistate lottery game. Currently, 30 other states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands have Powerball.

Winners will continue working for company
New Jersey State Lottery officials today confirmed that the 10 employees of Chubb Insurance who last week claimed the winning Mega Millions ticket would be awarded a total of roughly $140 million before taxes.
