Lottery Players Robbed At S.C. Store
Half a dozen people playing the lottery were forced to lie on the floor late Monday while two men held guns on them at the Lotto Supercenter on U.S. 21 in York County, South Carolina.
Sheriff's investigators said robbers wearing masks entered the store just before 10 p.m. and took money from three registers, as well as from every customer in the store.
Detectives are studying the surveillance video that shows the robbers running in and forcing everyone down.

Someone who bought a Powerball lottery ticket this week in North Carolina is $74.5 million richer this morning.
Powerball officials say one winning ticket matching all six numbers drawn Wednesday night was sold this week. That ticket was sold in North Carolina, although there is no word this morning where that ticket was purchased.

N.C. lottery retailers caught selling to minors
Fourteen Western North Carolina lottery retailers were cited for selling tickets to minors in the state's first test of the underage law, according to state Alcohol Law Enforcement Division records.
A two-month investigation done in August and September randomly checked 348 retailers statewide. Of those, teenagers were successful 98 times in buying $1 scratch-off tickets.
Thirty-eight of those stores are in Charlotte, 33 in Raleigh, 13 in Greensboro and eight in Greenville.

A Sylva, North Carolina, woman pleaded guilty on Tuesday in Jackson County Superior Court in connection with lottery fraud.
Jodi Gibson, 23, was charged with one count of obtaining property by false pretenses and sentenced to a minimum of six months and a maximum of eight months in prison.

Allen, N.C. lottery champion, dies
State Rep. Bernard Allen, who co-sponsored legislation to create North Carolina's lottery and then pushed for a committee to make sure the proceeds were wisely spent, died late Friday, a House aide said Saturday.
Allen, D-Wake, appeared to have been recovering well from a mild stroke Sept. 23. But a blood clot entered his lung Friday night, killing him instantly, according to House administrative clerk Carmen Cauthen.
