Printing error causes new Pa. Lottery ticket coupons to be issued
Pennsylvania Lottery players who tried to use some of the lottery's coupons that arrived in the mail or in the newspaper in late April or earlier this month learned that they were about as good as a losing lottery ticket.
That's because of a printing error in the coupons' bar code that makes them unreadable to retailers' lottery terminals, said Elizabeth Brassell, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Revenue, which oversees the lottery.

Lottery tickets accidentally shipped to man's house
A metro Atlanta man opened up a box with a gift he ordered on the Internet to find a treasure of scratch-off lottery tickets.
Darryl Bufford told a local reporter that a UPS box arrived this week with a gift he bought from Macy's.
Bufford set the package aside for a few days and opened it when he noticed some of the tape had been pulled loose.
Inside Bufford found eight stacks of unopened scratch-off lottery tickets.

Makes up for mechnical error Wednesday
During a review of the Wednesday, Oct. 16 Cash 4 midday drawing, Georgia Lottery officials determined that a technical malfunction occurred with a ball machine. During the routine post-drawing process, a mechanical issue was identified in one of the draw machines, which negated the proper mixing of a ball set.

Western Canada Lottery glitch causes ticket errors
The Western Canadian Lottery Corporation (WCLC) is advising customers to recheck their tickets following a system problem.
Officials said a delay in the draw results may mean that winning tickets weren't correctly identified.
They weren't released to the system until 10:35 yesterday morning. When normally they would be available as the retailors were opening their stores, WCLC stakeholder relations director, Amanda Marantz, explained.

Kentucky Lottery players who bought Pick 4 tickets for Monday's midday drawing have an extra chance to win, thanks to an error that occurred during the drawing.

Single mother's simple error earns her $14 million lottery prize
At the intersection of Fate and Lotto, Thuan Le made a very fortunate error.
The California single mother of four is thanking her lucky stars after mistakenly slipping an extra dollar into the self-service Lotto machine at her local CVS store in Mission Viejo.
That superfluous dollar wound up getting Le the SuperLotto Plus ticket holding the five winning numbers 5, 33, 25, 46, 32 plus the Mega number, 26, selected randomly in the April 24 drawing.

A Hillsborough family is the newest New Hampshire Tri-State Megabucks winner, and it was all because of a mistake.
