The multi-state Mega Millions lottery game continued growing its jackpot toward frenzy levels last night.
After nobody won Friday night's grand prize, the Mega Millions jackpot grew to an estimated $309 million the largest since the near-record-setting $648 million jackpot on Dec. 17, 2013, and the 23rd-largest United States lottery jackpot of all time (see full list below).

$270 MILLION: Mega Millions jackpot keeps growing

Lottery players across the United States will be lining up at lottery retailers for their chance to win Friday's massive $270 million Mega Millions jackpot, after nobody won Tuesday's $240 million grand prize.
The cash value stands at a staggering $151 million.
Friday's Mega Millions jackpot is the accumulation of 17 consecutive drawings without a top prize winner. The current jackpot run-up started on January 7 as a $15 million grand prize.

Three $1M lottery tickets sold in W.Va. in 1 week
West Virginia has another $1 million lottery winner.
Lottery spokesman Randy Burnside tells The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register that a ticket sold in the Wheeling area won a $1 million prize in the Powerball drawing on Wednesday.
It's the third $1 million lottery ticket sold in the state within a week.

Lotto is still losing its mojo.
New York's venerable twice-weekly Lotto drawing continues its long-term decline in an age of multi-state mega jackpots. It beat out the bucking horse and other state icons to star as the centerpiece of the lottery logo.

A delivery driver from Northern California rang in the New Year by walking into the California Lottery headquarters in Sacramento with a ticket worth $324 million.
