Israel Lottery draws same numbers twice in month
The odds may have been in the trillions-to-one range, but lightning has indeed struck twice for some lucky lottery players in Israel.
The national bi-weekly lottery draw Saturday led to the astronomically improbable result of the same six double-digit balls being pulled in less than a month.
The Miphal HaPayis state game picked 36, 33, 32, 26, 14, 13 and the strong number 2 as the winning combination.
But a quick look at the results caused panic and amazement: the same first six numbers ...

Odds are, stunning coincidences can be expected
Lotteries show that through sheer numbers, the uncanny happens; in Bulgaria, the same combination won twice in one week
History isn't supposed to repeat itself in the lottery. But earlier this month, a 1-in-5.2 million shot came through in Bulgaria, as the same six winning numbers turned up in two consecutive drawings. And 18 Bulgarians profited by betting on recent history: They chose the winning combination of numbers from the drawing four days earlier which hadn't been selected by anyone t ...

Powerball, arguably the world's best known jackpot lottery game, will be making changes to the game with the addition of Florida in January.
The multi-state game will add some white ball numbers and will remove some red ball numbers, to accomodate the increase in number of players once Florida joins the game. If the number matrix is not changed, the jackpot would be hit too often, and it would not re ...

Most lottery players never see big payoff
At a convenience store with a hilltop view of Williams-Brice Stadium, Jeff Connor scribbles five numbers on a Palmetto Cash 5 lottery slip.
If I've got 20 extra dollars, I'll put 10 percent or so into the lottery. Just like tithing, he said.
Connor estimates he spends $20 to $30 per week on lottery games for a very simple reason: I'd like to be a millionaire.
Meet the bread and butter for the Palmetto State's lotto.
They're residents who play regularly but have never won big. And ...
