Picture this: You've been holding a winning lottery ticket worth $200,000 or $250,000 for nearly one year without claiming the prize.
That is the head-scratching reality that has befallen three winning lottery tickets set to expire this month, including one that was sold in Eatontown, said Judith Drucker, a spokeswoman for the New Jersey Lottery.

$250,000 Mega Millions ticket sold in Maryland expires next week

The final claim date is quickly approaching for the owner of a $250,000 second-tier Mega Millions ticket purched in Maryland at the end of March.
The ticket must be claimed by Friday, September 28, 2012 at 4:30 pm.

A whopping $37.6 million in lottery prizes went unclaimed in New York last year from dreamers who plunked down their dollars for Powerball, Mega Millions and other tickets and never bothered to check them, according to New York Lottery statistics.

Time appears to be running out on somebody's multimillion-dollar lottery payday.
