New Tri-State lottery game debuting Sunday

A new pick 5-style lottery game called Gimme 5 goes on sale Sunday in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont the states that collectively are known as 'Tri-State'.
The first drawing for the new Gimme 5 game will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2013.

Vermont family turns losing lottery tickets into cash
The game's got a new name and some new rules, but when it comes to competing for cash prizes in the Vermont Lottery's second-chance, scratch-off ticket drawing, the money keeps rolling in for the Leamy family of Wilder.

Vermont Lottery appoints new Executive Director
Greg Smith, an executive with The Vermont Country Store, has been tapped to head the Vermont Lottery, replacing retiring Lottery Executive Director Alan Yandow.
Smith will take over the operation on June 7.

Vermont Lottery announces new 'Play It Again' program
The Vermont Lottery announced today that it will launch a new program, Play It Again, in June, as a new way to participate in second chance drawings.
Play It Again will replace the current second chance drawing program, Recycle Win.
Doing away with the mailing in of non-winning tickets to the Lottery, Play It Again will allow players to simply go to the Vermont Lottery Website (www.vtlottery.com/playitagain) to enter their ticket numbers for quarterly online drawings.

New England states start new lottery game Thursday

For the first time ever, the six New England states will jointly run a multi-state lottery game, starting this week.
The new Lucky for Life regional draw game begins this Thursday, March 15 for the six following states: Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massechusetts, and Rhode Island. Ticket sales for the new game started Sunday.

Vermont Lottery director to step down
The Vermont Lottery Commission today announced that long-time Executive Director Alan Yandow would not seek another biannual appointment to the position.
After nearly fourteen years as Executive Director, and working with three governors, Yandow will leave state service.

Tri-State lottery players get extra chance to win Pick 4
Players of the Tri-State Pick 4 lottery had two chances to win this week when a ball left in the drawing machine led to two sets of winning numbers.
Lottery officials said they discovered that a ball was inadvertently left in the chute of the drawing machine before Tuesday's evening winning numbers were drawn, so the number wasn't included in the drawing.

Vt. Lottery computer glitch creates extra winners
Linda Hebert says she didn't think twice when she purchased two nearly identical computer-generated Fast Play tickets at North End Deli Mart earlier this month.
They looked like winners to me, Hebert says of the twin Red Hot Numbers tickets that she has been patiently waiting for the Vermont Lottery Commission to honor since she bought them on her way to work Aug. 4.

Vermont sued over state lottery contract award
The company that has operated Vermont Lottery games for the past 10 years is suing the state, trying to force the release of documents related to Vermont's decision to switch to another company.
