Brothers celebrate lottery win by blowing up house
Two brothers who were celebrating a $75,000 winning lottery ticket by purchasing marijuana and meth accidentally blew up their house on Friday, said Sgt. Bruce Watts of the Wichita Police Department.
The explosion sent one of the brothers a 27-year-old to the hospital, where he remains in serious but stable condition with second-degree burns on his hands, arms and chest.
The other brother was sent to jail, Watts said.

Plea deal settles N.Y. lottery ticket trial; immigrant will get $2.5M
A plea agreement Friday in Rockland County Court has ended the case involving a Spring Valley, New York, immigrant's $3 million lottery ticket and three men accused of trying to steal a portion of it.
Elfido DeLaRoca will get about $2.5 million before taxes over the next 15 years, while the three men will avoid jail on a theft charge. One of the men will get $300,000 from the winnings.

Laid off Oregon man wins $1 million

Laid off since May, Riley Gunn was driving his wife and kids home to their cabin in the woods in southern Oregon after registering for computer programming classes, when he pulled off the freeway to buy corn dogs for the kids.
