$14.3 million lottery winner almost didn't claim prize
For three days, employees of the Kelley Williamson Mobil station that sold Saturday's winning $14.3 million Megabucks ticket wondered who the lucky buyer was.
They hoped it was a regular customer, like Napolean Elvord, an ailing veteran in need of a kidney transplant who comes in several times a day to get what he calls one of the best coffees in Madison and most days, to buy lottery tickets.
I asked him the next day, 'Were you the big winner?' said Paul Muchie, 29, of Madison, who sold t ...

Lottery winners say most fun was giving money away
Nancy and Al Mohrbacher lived simple lives in Wisconsin before they won the lottery. And things haven't changed, they said.
Despite the $2.8 million they won earlier this year, they spent the same amount on Christmas presents. They're doing the same things this holiday season that they always do.
The family will come over Christmas morning, and they'll share monkey bread before opening presents and having lunch together.
Our lives are pretty much the same, said Nancy, 67. But it's fun ...

One lucky person quit worrying about the plunging markets, layoffs and other economic woes Saturday night after winning the Wisconsin Megabucks lottery.
State Lottery spokesman Andrew Bohage said a single ticket matched all six numbers and won the jackpot, worth $9.1 million if the winner chooses to take the payments in 25 installments, or worth $5.1 million if the winner takes the one-time lump-sum cash payout.
Odds of winning the Megabucks jackpot are 1 in 7 million, Bohage said.
