i'm just wondering, what are the most weird lottery numbers ever drawn?

has it ever happened (in any lottery) that e.g. numbers '1,2,3,4,5,6' or '44,45,46,47,48,49' or a bit more likely '1,2,3,4,5,7'?

also has anybody won anything for such numbers?

I don't think Maryland's Bonus Match 5 is fixed.  From a probability standpoint, 33-34-35-36-37 has the exact same chance of coming out as any other set of numbers.

Smaller the game the greater the chance (abet still small) the odd type draws that catch the eye will occur.  The old Florida Fantasy 5/26 repeated jackpot combinations at later dates often enough that if you had played all the winning combinations as your tickets each draw over the years you would have made a profit.  BobP

Yes there are VERY weird #'s drawn up sometimes. That is definately an alteration. Naive hits it right on the button. The correct term is "it's probably not altered on every draw" lol.

On May 22, 1999, the Lottario lottery in Ontario drew the following numbers:

                1  2   3   4  5  33  Bonus 25

As expeced, there were many lower tier prize winners and therefore low prizes. The average win for matching 5 numbers is $821. For this draw, a 5 number match paid only $43.

Interestingly, there were 3 winning jackpot tickets and 3 tickets that matched 5 numbers plus the bonus number. Lottario is a 6/45 game. I suspect the same person won all 6 prizes by buying a total of 40 tickets. Each ticket having 1 2 3 4 5 plus one of the remaining 40 numbers. No proof, just my suspicion.

                Good luck,
                Jake

Yes, those #'s are very suspect too. Basically lottery officials know we don't have anything on em, with which to charge em on.

Yes, people are very naive.  The odds in a 5/39 game, excluding the bonus ball, are 1:575,757.  Now you pointed out the 33-34-35-36-37 drawing (bonus ball irrelevant).  A fully sequential drawing of 1-2-3-4-5, 2-3-4-5-6......35-36-37-38-39, would also have drawn suspicion.  So, we've got 35 different fully sequential combinations, that you would have noticed.  We are excluding the five wraparound possibilities 36-37-38-39-1, 37-38-39-1-2...39-1-2-3-4.  Alright, so 575,757 divided by 35 = 1:16,450.  There is a 1 in 16,450 chance that the numbers will be fully sequential.

                    Pick 5 games are daily...365.26 draws a year. 16,450/365.26 = 45.036

There is a 1 in 45 chance that a single lottery will draw sequential numbers in any given year!  How many Pick 5 lotteries are there in the US?  I'll get the exact stat later on tonight once I'm done with work, but maybe 20?  Fully sequential draws should happen somewhere in the United States once every two years at the minimum!!  It's not fixed, it's the odds...it just happened to show in Maryland.

Bottom Line: With the jackpot odds being so astronomical, state/multi-state lotteries are a suckers bet. That is the real shame... but of course they must make a profit.

                          Look at Pa's midday numbers for Dec 3rd, 2004 . . .

                          7 7 2
                          7 7 7 3

Two sevens and a two, three sevens and a three. Is this what random is supposed to be?  A cosmic joke? Or what happens when the Lottery Director takes a day off?  BobP

7 7 7 3......i have my own theory maybe just maybe some of the balls do sometimes weigh just a tiny smidgen less or more than the other balls, not that they are doing it on purpose and i'm not saying its rigged but maybe that when they are made it just happens like that periodically....

Maybe some of the lottery balls get together for a couple of beers after work and decide to screw with their draw masters' heads.  This is just a theory it could be space aliens trying to make us crazy. BobP
