Greetings All,
This is my first message on LotteryPost. :) I've started playing the NY Lottery for about a year now. I'm 27 years old. Let's just say that I've "noticed" a few things here and there since then. For example, on most scratch offs, namely the $2, $5, and $10 games, I've noticed there's a high chance to pick a winner based on the ticket number. I always ask the clerk for the ticket number before I purchase one. Some clerks may get annoyed, but I don't care. For example, I won $50 on a $2 cashword game a few months ago, and the ticket number was 012. I happened to be at another store a few days later and noticed that the same $2 cashword game they had was at #012. I decided to give it a try. It was a $10 winner. Over time, this happened to me about 5 or six times with #012 on the same game....winning from $2, $4, or $5. It didn't happen 100% of the time, but more times than not.
I've also noticed patterns with certain games. For example with the cashword games, you have to match 3 words to win $2 or break even. When you buy these tickets, you will probably match 2 words 95% of the time...leaving you discouraged because you were just 1 word short of winning your money back at least. However, you will also come across instances (more rarely)when you've only matched 1 word...leaving you with a feeling that you were way off on winning anything. Most players would quit at this point, but this is when I get excited because, I've found that on most occaisons when I come across a ticket where I've only matched one word, the next ticket is usually a winner! Try this out for yourself, you will see that I am not wrong. The best way to see this is if you buy 5 tickets in a row for example ($10 total if you are playing a $2 cashword game).
#146 (Match 2 words) #147 (Match 2 words) #148 (Match 1 word) #149 (Winner!) #150 (Match 1 word)....#151 (Match 2 words)....and so on.
There have been times though when I've purchased a ticket and only matched 1 word...so I went to get another one and found that it was a loser. I am assuming in these cases that the previous ticket was a winner. So in a sense, the winning cashword ticket can be surrounded by two tickets on either side that only match 1 word. I've had success using this trick as an indicator to me. On this particular game, I've won $50 twice, $25 5 times, $10, $5, and $2 prizes many times.

With scratch off games where you scratch 5 'winning' numbers and 12 'your' numbers, a potential 'coin' symbol to automatically win a prize, and a potential 'star' symbol to multiply your prize by 10, I've also noticed some things.
If you buy a ticket with this kind of game format and are very 'close' to matching a jackpot or a big $$ prize, meaning that you were only 1 number off from the big prized, you should not buy the next ticket. It's a trick in my opinion. You feel that you were soooo close to winning something, maybe even the jackpot....you say to yourself, "If that 12 was only an 11, I would have won big...let me get another one." I've found that when you come across situations where your 'winning' numbers are "way off" from 'your' numbers, the next ticket is usually a winner. A few months ago I was playing a $5 scratch off with this format....the ticket number was 58....my 4 winning numbers were way off any of the numbers with corresponding prizes. I told myself, let me get another one, because I'm way off on this one....sure enough I matched a coin symbol with $100. The ticket number was 57. On a side note, a few weeks later I happened to notice at another store, that the next ticket number on one of the $5 scratch offs was 57....I bought it and won $40.
Well, that's all for now. I have a few more tips, which I will post on another occaison.
