Same here.  I usually pick 5-10 depending on how high the JP is and get 5 QP also.  However, if I am at a store and there happens to be a green machine there, i'll just ask for 1 or 2 QP's and thats it.  Or sometimes i'll just grab a sheet and pick numbers off the top of my head as fast as I can.

I am a number picker, but I also consider myself a smart person.  That is why when I see statistics that indicate the majority of JACKPOT winning tickets are quick picks, I can't argue with throwing a few more dollars on QPs than own picks, even when those QPs seem ludicrous...like when a QP contains 2 or 3 of the numbers just drawn in the previous drawing...or the repeat Powerball or Mega Ball number (but then again, Mega Millions had a string where 41 was drawn 3 consecutive times and Powerball just drew the number 3 which was also drawn 2 draws ago).  There really is no rhyme or reason to the numbers drawn which is why QP'ers probably win more often than those who try to analyze the numbers.  But hey, I am sure others get as much enjoyment from the pursuit of the jackpot win as they would with actually winning the jackpot, so I like millions of others will continue to play my own trend picks (just can't bring myself to play the same line time after time) while also picking up an equal or greater number of QPs.  BTW, I also buy QPs one line play at a time...just so that if I happen to win, I can say in my press conference that I only played $1 on a random QP and have all of America hating me in the process! I am sure others have done the same thing even after they actually had plunked down $5, $10, or $20 on QPs and requested one play per slip.  I think the "I only played $1 on a QP" makes for a better story for the lottery as they work to encourage more people to play but yet play responsibly.

Do you suppose it's just some bizarre coincidence that  just about 70% of the  tickets sold are QP's and just about 70% of winning tickets are QP's? At least since 1/1/2003 Pennsylvania has sold more PB winners than any other state. Have you thought about moving there?

I do both. So far it has not made a dent in my ability to lose small amounts of cash.
