Rick#2 you were a little hard on Rick#1. The ones you should be down on are the people asking Rick#1 to bring up the idea. If they were serious about a RNG for just a few select numbers, they would write those numbers on pieces of papers, put them in to sack, shake it and pick them out by hand.
Or they could do what I did and write their own.
And if they really got serious as I did, they would add features that could check the sums, gaps, number positions and etc. of each random combination. They would also add features which check each combination with a data file of previous drawings to see if it had ever come up and count the number of times it matched 0, 1, 2 , 3 and etc. They might add a feature that loaded numbers from up to three different groups and color code them so it could generate random combinations that included numbers from all of the groups and show their colors. Parameters could be adjusted to act as filters. Features to run the actually data file of previous drawings to check if parameters were so tight that even the previous winners would be rejected might be added.
I've done all these things to my RNG and hardly a month goes by that I don't think of something else I would like to have it do. It's really becoming a research RNG which is helping me rethink how I pick my numbers.
When you starting thinking of the many features you might want on a RNG then you know it's a program that should reside on your home computer not on a website.
