Darn, I'm having trouble locating those images.  I'm going to have to scour my system to see if they're still around.  If not, I'll need to go through my e-mail archive to see if I can locate them.

Thanks for digging up those posts!

You're welcome Todd. It would be nice to see the images of the winning Powerball ticket. You don't see many of those around. Yes Nod

I found the winning ticket image!  I re-posted it back on the original thread, but here it is, in all it's glory!

Good luck!

A little more background on this winning ticket (and the winner):

  • The winning ticket shown above was worth $100,000.  (Obviously before Powerball changed to a $200,000 prize for matching the first 5 numbers.)
  • The winner was a Lottery Post member named ezmoney.
  • The first line is the one that won the $100,000.  The numbers are circled on the lower two lines because ezmoney always checked his numbers from the bottom-up.
  • Immediately after winning the $100,000 Powerball prize, ezmoney won $5,000 in Pennsylvania's Super6 game.  (The game has since ended.)  The winning ticket for that prize is shown below.
  • Shortly after all of this, ezmoney decided to stop playing the lottery.  He figured he was up $70,000, and didn't want to blow the rest.  Good for him.  I hope he's doing well!  Here's his good bye message: http://www.lotterypost.com/thread/64564
  • And here's an interesting post I found, which was posted that same week.  My, how we've grown!  http://www.lotterypost.com/thread/60663

Good luck!

Thanks, Todd.  I think ezmoney was smart if that's the way he/she felt.  I would probably continue to play unless I won at least a million.

Anyway, I do have a question.  I notice that some tickets posted show numbers circled.  Is this a wise thing to do?  I guess only the bar code really counts, but I thought that lottery tickets shouldn't be tampered with, including writing on them (except for signing the back)  Just curious.

By the way, I was looking for information and found an old article written by a lawyer that says it's okay to sign your name, but to leave the other lines blank in case you want to claim the prize as a Trust or LLC.  She wrote that signing it keeps it from being claimed if stolen, but still leaves the winner the option of adding information under his/her name.  I wasn't sure about that, but her suggestion makes sense.   Don't want to go too off-topic, but she also wrote that in some cases where a family member wanted to split the jackpot or give money as a gift, the IRS asked for proof that a partnership had been created prior to the ticket purchase, which I found interesting.
